Planetside seems good. UO is ok.

KagomJack 2003-12-16 07:54 PM

Final Fantasy 11 no doubt! Once I get my Radeon 9600, I'll be able to play it!

!King_Amazon! 2003-12-16 08:03 PM

I didn't know Planetside was an MMORPG, I thought it was an MMOFPS.

I'd suggest FF11 from what I've seen, but I really don't know from personal experience.

Sovereign 2003-12-16 08:05 PM

WEll depends on your definition of role playing. If you ask me your playing the role of a soldier of one of the three factions. So to me it is a MMORPG as well as an MMOFPS.

RoboticSilence 2003-12-16 08:56 PM

Planetside also has experience and leveling so it is technically an RPG.

zagggon 2003-12-16 10:06 PM

What about EQ? Does it suck, or is it fun? I hear its really addicting like d2, can anybody confirm this?, especially the fun part?

Demosthenes 2003-12-17 02:58 PM

lol...i want SWG really bad...it sounds awesome

zagggon 2003-12-17 05:49 PM

Yea but dont all you do is go around blasting starwars characters?

Tyrannicide 2003-12-17 07:51 PM

I would definitly say Final Fantasy XI FO-SHO.
but if ur not into FF's then Everquest would be good, just make sure its the new one, which should be obvious cause it wouldn't be a greatest hits right now.

Kuja 2003-12-17 08:11 PM

I would say. Dont get any mmorpg for Xmas! Give yourself a bigger gift! Keep your social life ;)

zagggon 2003-12-17 09:10 PM

ima thinking bout getting Wow

Niiniux 2003-12-18 02:58 PM

I hated EverQuest. You spend about 8 months levelling your character up to the point where you can actually go anywhere. After every battle there is a significant amount of downtime require for getting you hp and mana up. It's just a very slow game.

I personally like Ultima Online a lot, but it's quite outdated these days. Cheap, yes, but out-dated. And everything is more item based now, on OSI servers, so if you like Diablo, you'd probably like current UO.

SWG was a decent game, but still a lot of wait time.

Same with DAoC. So it really depends on what you want.

Current UO is probably closest to Diablo.

My mom has played pretty much all of the MMORPG's out, and she prefers Asheron's Call 2 right now.

I've been mostly stuck on UO myself.

That's my .02

Actually there's an unfortunate lack of going around blasting things.

zeal311 2003-12-18 03:50 PM

Well my own opinion is to wait. There are many promising mmorpg's coming out in 2004. WoW and Middle-Earth Online for example. If you REALLY want to get one now though I would suggest DAOC. (Dark age of Camelot) I have not personally played this but it has gotten the best reviews out of all of them and had a high # of suscribers. However, unless you plan to invest 5+ hours a day into it, don't expect to get anywhere too fast.

Kuja 2003-12-18 05:03 PM

Here are the mmorpg i played with the rating i give them on 10.
Lineage, 8 (During Lineage 1 time it was a kick ass game)

Lineage 2, 7 (Ok, for a while but get way to much repeatitive. You dont get to see new place fast enought.)

Asheron Call, 10 (Plain kick ass. The graphik arnt the best but it was perfection back then. The skills system was WONDEFUL! and still is. Turbine game financed by Microsoft. It was genius! If there was some free server i would probably restart playing right away.)

Asheron Call 2, 7.5(It was good. But you could clearly see that Turbine been assimilated into Microsoft. It lacked of lot of things)
Ultima Online, 8.5(Great game but once you played a lot the system get old and much less entertaining.)

Everquest, -2(Many liked it but i fucken HATED that game.)

Dark Age Of Camelot, 12(Now that one is bad ass. A little to much. This one was really my 15$ for my social life + my soul i had to quit completly cause i couldnt stop playing)

Shadowbane, 1(Now i had great expectation from this game. But it turned out i could enjoy more cheating on a tetris game then suffer the lack of interest that game brought me.)

Hum, im missing a few... Well i guess il add them later.

My sugestion would be screw WoW. Blizzard might have a nice concept for their games. But blizzard long term support of their games sux! We all know how long some of the dupe been arround without patch for any of their games. They also always get owned by hackers. I mean seriously im sure there some tetris game with better protection. They have great idea and are a bunch of noob coder. So WoW wont have me in. I would rather play a net tetris game. At least there i wouldnt have to worry that the guy playing with me is duping blocks.

kockblocker1 2003-12-18 05:26 PM

FF11

KagomJack 2003-12-18 05:28 PM

EverQuest was teh pwn in my opinion. But i had to get rid of it so i could play FF XI

But FF XI will be teh major pwn!
