Best Multiplayer map.

I have been playing starcraft for almost 2 years now. I have played many, many different maps. However, a few of those maps really stand out.

Thee is the massive Killing Fields. Here, up to 8 players can pummel the shit out of each other and still leave a good deal of the map unexplored. Thats how monsterous this 256 x 256 map is

There is the Proving Grounds map. This four player ladder map, with its multiple expansions, is high up on my list of great maps.

The Hunters, not to be mistaken with the mess that is Big Game Hunters, has provided me wiht many hours of fun gameplay as well. This was one of teh first low mineral maps i played, and i still play it to this very day.

These three, in my opion, are tied for the best map ever. Thats just my opion, im sure yours varies. Post them here!

Green Valleys. Many expands that not everyone knows about.

Well, I can't decide on my most favorite but yeah I have some I enjoy the most and the reasons.

Killing Fields is one, for the same reason as stated above but also since I like the idea of having to defend from just about any direction, it has no choke point where you can mass your tanks at really and the map is pretty hard to keep scouting without having to send out alot of your troops. Good for Long Games

New Gettysburg, Come on, admit it, we all love this map. Usually 2-3 entrances for the main bases and 1-2 for expansions. With Higher Ground and tight paths just about everywhere, its perfect for ambushes. Also, each expansion is close to the base, although at the same time far if you have no air access while some are just, impossible to reach without air. Good for long / short / medium games.

Homeworld, I dont know why not alot of people like this map. Your base is basically forced to be compact due to the surrounding wall (easy for zergs to adapt), so you have to expand out of the wall or find and build at your expansions. The map is truly huge do to all the paths available to you for traveling. Perfect for a long game.

Bridge to Bridge. Ok, this is a good map to me as well. I enjoy it. Map is large and yeah, basically its bridges after bridges after bridges connecting to small or medium sized platform islands. Your base minerals will run out faster than you know it, and each expansion only has a small amount of minerals. You truly must micro and macro carefully to make best of your units and still have defenses for your many expansions. I dont know about the rest of you, but if I want a challenge, THIS is my map! No way in hell can I *easily* own someone in this map unless he's completely stupid.

I think I like The Hunters... Don't know why, just played it the most, know my way around.

Big maps are freaking great for massive players. Yeah, they might take a while to finish, but at least you have fun doing it.

Sovereign 2003-11-06 11:09 PM

Big maps can be great for a small number oof players as well. My friends and i playa killing fields all the time. Its more challenging if you ask me. there are so many possibilities for your opponent to make an exansion in these big maps. to my friends and i, it adds suspence.

Sovereign, have you played Bridge to Bridge? I know your (or atleast I thought it was you) not into maps with choke points (like bridges) but the map is still pretty big I think o.O; Theres another map I've played that was fun, but it was too easy as Terrans, it was Sherwood.

I have played sherwood forest. I didnt like it too much but it was ok. Again, its nothin compared to undoubtedly the best map of all time: Killing Fields

Thanatos 2003-11-08 07:52 AM

Agreed.

Favorite map.

What are your favortie maps? Why?

My personal favorite is BGH, the reasons are number one its a rather big map, many expansions, enough money to actually build a semi-decent force, plus its a map thats actually good made by blizard ~_^

Sovereign 2003-12-01 01:00 PM

There has been a thread, made by i, on this subject. I am merging the 2 threads. Bgh is garbage if you ask me. Starcraft should be a game of skill, and resource management. NOT who can get the most mins and mass the fuck out of their opponents.

Sovereign 2003-12-03 02:50 PM
