This is a rediculous statement. All characters in all games are programmed to win.

That's not very nice, because it can be applied to every single Hero character in any video game.

That's the whole point. The characters are from different games, different worlds, that's why WE, the gamers need to bring forth arguments to whichever side we favor.

(I typed this and found out the thread is locked.)

I thought the discussion was over? I'm sure Raziel closed the thread for a reason.

It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters is whether I win or lose.

Raziel 2003-09-16 10:16 PM

You guys are welcome to continue discussing it, just keep it out of the new threads.

Okay, so should the arguments about "who did what" in his world be a valid point?

I think it should be, because we want to see what a character is capable to do, and what s/he has done in the past. For instance, if a character has only fight huge monsters in his world, it would be, in theory, difficult for him to fight something half his size, because he's not used to such battles, and vice versa.

Last time I checked, moderators didn't have supreme power over me. I don't know about the rest of you, but if I choose to discuss something and feel like making a thread about it, I damn well will.

No they don't, but sometimes you have to learn when a discussion is over. Smart ass comments are to be kept in particular forums, so if you don't have anything else to say on this topic, don't say it. Period.

Medieval Bob 2003-09-17 10:29 AM

The point is that the topic was over. Thus the thread is closed. I, however, felt the need to comment on a statement in that thread.

NEW TOPIC; NEW THREAD

Everybody always bitches about threads being off topic, but when I make a new thread with a quote which is not concerned with the original topic of the thread (Squall and Dante), everybody wants my ass for it.

Reality check...

Yeah maybe it would be good but then again i feel it would give to much advantage to any rpg games. In action and fps it s always lot of monster and not so strong exept the boss while in rpg it s always strong monster being attack by 4 and boss are even harder. So it would mean all rpg character would gain the advantage of having always fought stronger then themself making all their fight easier cause they cannot be in disadvantage even if they fight something weaker.

But in most RPG, the characters are in a party. It is not like they Solo the boss all by themselves. They can get healed, power-up by other party members. (Mostly. Sometimes you do solo with Boss.)

However, if it is an One on One battle, RPG characters will have to depend on themselves and no one else. And the characters from Action/Fighting/FPS games are used to Solo-battle...
