can I cange position?
 

Say I become a newsposter. I keep the position for three months. Then, a moderator position opens. Can I switch? Or do I have to stay newsposter? Or, can I do both?

Depends on your behavior. But there's nothing holding you back from becoming a mod if your a newsposter, mods can post news anyway.
