Stupid News: Jaws of life.

Firefighters mistakenly tear apart car during drill

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) Firefighters practicing how to use the Jaws of Life brought an early death to an innocent Honda Accord.

Antonio Rocha, 32, parked his 1986 black coupe behind the fire department's headquarters Friday morning, next to two cars that had been supplied for the Jaws of Life exercise. The life-saving equipment is used to extract passengers from mangled vehicles.

When the exercise began, firefighters assumed Rocha's car was part of the drill and removed its roof and doors, police told The MetroWest Daily News.

Rocha had left his car near the fire station while he walked across the street to the Adesa car auctions on Western Avenue, according to the police report.

I went to a jaws of life practice thingy once. They have these little pads they use to lift stuff that fill with air and expand, and they have this huge scissor looking thing that they cut the cars with and they had another big tool thingy I can't remember. I think it was all hydrolic, but I can't remember. The coolest part was when they sprayed adhesive on a window and barely tapped the corner of it and the whole window shattered but stayed in place.
