Ice Fortress

Thats right folks, another picture done by me. Only this time, it looks semi-realistic. :) Iownjoo is being a little un-cooperative, so I have to keep it on the Deviantart. Here is the link for it. :)

Hope you enjoy. :)

RoboticSilence 2003-07-15 02:18 PM

James... do this:

View your picture in full size using the link at Deviant art... then when it comes up full witht he comments and stuff... right click the picture and select properties... then copy the url and post it here with image tags... like this:

http://images.deviantart.com/large/i...e_Fortress.jpg

It's not your fault deviantart.com needs more fucking server space... but this is an easy way around it.

The bright cyan border and text just don't go. Ice fortress? this is clearly only two snowy rocks. Just use the white layer if you're gonna go with icy feel. Use different shades of white or something (not sure how terragen is laid out, I don't use it, mainly because it blows and is utterly useless except for creating one frame terrain pictures) Better than your last picture, I can kind of see this being a more realistically possible terrain. Some vegatation might be nice.

Jamesadin 2003-07-15 02:42 PM

Yeah, once I was finished, I realized that the cyan was kind of distracting. I think vegitation would be kind of pointless though, since, its cold, and these are basically chunks of rock, with snow on them.

Randuin 2003-07-15 03:49 PM

If this was meant to be a ROCKY terrain, you have failed to impress me =\ Rocks n water don't go. Geographically impossible. Try all ice.

JiDDaR 2003-07-15 04:33 PM

randuin is right some vegetation would be cool but i've to say it looks pretty good

Randuin 2003-07-15 10:16 PM

One thing i HATE about terragen generated water is that it's always god damn solid opage. But I see they've made alot of progression on their new version this guy is betaing.

It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters is whether I win or lose.

JiDDaR 2003-07-16 02:24 AM

if you made this pics randuin ... oofff... your skills are awesome

Chruser 2003-07-16 04:01 AM

Randuin, I doubt those are default Terragen renders. I haven't found out how to generate waves like that, so I'm pretty sure someone decided to draw them in Photoshop, sadly. I don't know, feel free to prove me wrong.

Jamesadin 2003-07-16 09:59 AM

Those must have been generated with plugins, becuase the default water in Terragen doesn't work that way.

Randuin 2003-07-16 02:29 PM

These are COMPLETELY terragen :) It could be plugins or it could be the new version =\ (He's a beta tester) But either way they look awesome.

Jamesadin 2003-07-16 02:39 PM

Maybe he added another layer onto the water, and added white foam along the coast line. O_O

RoboticSilence 2003-07-16 02:47 PM

Maybe you are imagining everything... and that's really a picture of some guy's dog.

Tai 2003-07-17 06:16 AM

Hah, and happy bday James. July 15? Mine's July 16. My bday sucked horribly. Dad's brother died. :\

I think it's the best terragen photo we've seen so far on Zelaron. And the water in those pictures Randuin posted looks really good, but completely unrealistic. Still nice, though.

HOLY SHIT THATS GOTO BE REAL MAN, WERE IT AT ? TELL ME ! I KNOW THAT HAS TO BE REAL, NO DRAWN WATER LOOKS THAT REAL, TELL US WERE YOUR HIDDEN ISLAND IS !!!!!!

Medieval Bob 2003-07-22 07:30 AM

Actually, in reference to the island, the third picture is way too textured. Look in the left gulf of the island. The water in it has a patterened ripple, and it is far too defined at the distance it is portrayed at. Also, on the 5th picture almost all the water on the left side of the picture has a vertical pattern to the ripples, which doesn't happen in real life.

I do like the last picture very much however.

Please refrain yourself from senseless useless yelling.

Thank you.

If you look closely, you should be able to see reaccuring textures. Now since you don't seem to be the type to notice simple details that scream 3D model, picking out and matching texture formations seems to be better fit to you. Or simply reading the posts would of saved you the trouble.
