Compaq upgrade?

I bought (very cheaply) a Compaq Presario laptop. Specifically the CQ60-419WM model and I was wondering if upgrading the processor is possible.

The sempron line of processors suck complete ass. It's cool you got it for cheap though! Off the top of my head i'm going to say 'no', but only because I feel personally it wouldn't be worth to go through with the trouble of doing the labor, only to upgrade slightly to the next processor that is still probably going to be garbage compared to other highend machines.

Is Vista runnnig with this processor? I'd atleast downgrade first and go from there, try adding some rambus.

I imagine you'll find it very hard to upgrade a laptop CPU. It can be done, but not without a lot of trouble.

What do you want to do that needs the upgrade? And what OS is it running currently?

The rest of the specs suit me, just the processor sucks.

It is vista, and I don't wish to downgrade at all. In fact, I really want to put my Windows 7 RC disk in and upgrade but it's only the 2nd day and I'm lazy.

I wouldn't mind sending it to a friends dad and have him upgrade it. It didn't come with a warranty anyway.

If I weren't so lazy i'd look up the motherboard for you and see what chips fit inside it, but I am too lazy, and am not going to do it haha. I would imagine though that the upgrades available are going the also be sempron or sempron-like processors, hence not worth the upgrade IMO. But still, if it's a nice little machine and you are willing to dish out a little more money to have it upgraded, go all for it. I mean, you did get it cheap anyways.
