Gamecube cracks

Have u guys ever really looked at ur gamecube and saw little cracks and top? i have 3 of them near the open button the power button and the reset buttoin and i have cracks on my controllers to there near the A, B and x button.
Now my Qeustion is... is this normal or not? and can it do any harm? or like grow any further? and the final Qeustion is have any of u guys got the same problem?

Raziel 2002-10-04 01:31 PM

Well, no that's not particularly normal. You don't happen to keep your GameCube in the freezer, do you?

BlueCube 2002-10-04 01:38 PM

No, mine don't have that problem.. though, my N64 controllers have the paint coming off in the analog stick bay...

Raziel 2002-10-04 04:17 PM

Yeah, mine did the same thing after a few months. Alpha, I wouldn't worry about the cracks. You can drop most Nintendo products from 2 stories up and they'll be fine afterwards.

AC_Luver!!! 2002-10-04 04:54 PM

i doubt you can drop a gamecube from 2 stories and have it unharmed. come to think of it, you can't drop many things and have them unharmed...

Jamesadin 2002-10-04 09:35 PM

I read in a Nintendo Power that a Game Boy game went through the wash, and a N64 game lasted a winter in Alaska. Also a Game boy fell 2 storys. It had some scratches, but it was fine.

a cat

Raziel 2002-10-05 01:45 AM

I wasn't being literal, AC. But, Nintendo does have a reputation for building the most durable products on the market.

Jamesadin 2002-10-05 08:10 AM

Better than PS2's, my freind sent his in to get fixed, and it took half a year for them to send it back, and it cost something like $150 to fix it.

GameCube 2002-10-07 05:51 AM

i know someone who dropped their gamecube down a concrete driveway, and now its got a huge crack in it.

I dropped my Game Boy from the kitchen counter and the thing holding the batteries in broke... the little thing keeping it secure fell inside the Game Boy...

Jamesadin 2002-10-07 07:12 PM

But hey, the actual ting wasnt damaged..

GameCube 2002-10-08 11:20 AM

Jamesadin 2002-10-08 12:31 PM

Think about it, Nintendo's consoles are hard as a rock, so naturaly the portable handheld system could conceivably used as armor on a fighter plane. My original gameboy has endured many falls, and still works like the day i bought it.

Jamesadin 2002-10-09 06:45 AM

Mine too...good old gameboys...

GameCube 2002-10-09 10:20 AM

yea, gba kicks ass

Alpha_omega 2002-10-14 02:57 PM

you guys say it aint normal but i buddy of mine has it too, at exactly the same places so you guys better check urs again cuz it might be there!

quikspy67 2002-10-14 08:48 PM

I dont have that problem yes you should get it fixed.

GameCube 2002-10-15 10:29 AM

yea, its under the platic covering

Raziel 2002-10-15 04:20 PM

If it's just cracks on the casing, it's not a big deal. You don't plan on going river rafting with the thing, do you? I didn't think so.

Mmm... good ol' Nintendo. My Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Gameboy, Nintendo 64. Back when I was a young buck, I dropped these things on an everyday basis, and to this day, every single one of those consoles work perfectly. Where as I treated my Playstation and Playstation 2 like exotic cars. And they still fuck up. Nintendo sure can make them things last. Sony on the other hand SUCKS! Well, they suck at durablity, other than that, they ROCK!

Raziel 2002-10-15 07:35 PM

The PSX was awful about that. The track for the laser was originally made of plastic, and because the console wasn't as well ventilated as it should have been, those tracks had a tendency to melt. That's why so many people who still own Playstations from '96 or '97 have to stand them on their sides so they'll read the discs.

Okay Alpha_Omega, I took a good hard look at my Gamecube last night, and I was able to a few very faint cracks under the surface of the plastic. They were all in the places you described yours as being. Those are nothing to worry about. When plastic hardens, there are places where the stress on the casing is greater and there will undoubtedly be small, harmless cracks because of it. They will not spread, they will cause no harm, they are nothing to worry about.

I thought you were talking about plainly visible cracks on the very surface. That would be abnormal.

thnx for explaining because the first time i saw it a had tears in my eyes because it would mean that my gamecube wouldnt be perfect anymore but since more people have it,it means its normal and that my gamecube still is perfect!

GameCube 2002-10-27 09:23 AM

yea, the same goes for the controllers
