My mother and step-father both have very strong southern accents. All of my family does. You will never hear it coming from me. I've done everything in my power to remove any trace of southern accent from my voice. It sounds unintelligent, to me. I just talk how I consider "normal". I don't have an accent of any kind, as far as I know.
