Do you wear glasses?

Yes no?

Maybe so?

!King_Amazon! 2007-11-13 01:51 PM

Safety Glasses and Sun Glasses but not the kind you're talking about.

Thanatos 2007-11-13 01:53 PM

Should add an option for contacts because no I don't wear glasses but yes I do wear contacts.

-Spector- 2007-11-13 01:53 PM

I have a feeling that wearing glasses has the potential to make your actual eye site worse, since you're no longer making your eyes do the work.

Though I could be wrong..

Lenny 2007-11-13 02:51 PM

Indeedily I doodily.

And I've got some prescription shades - sun glasses with a lense that's the same as my normal specs, but tinted.

-Spector- 2007-11-13 03:08 PM

Lenny add the contacts option!

FTW1

Can't. Only Admins can edit Polls. I'm but a lowly Supreme Moderator, I'm afraid.

I wear contacts mostly, and glasses for an hour or so at night.

I just got a pair of those earlier this year. They're pretty sweet. Though I'd rather not have to deal with this shit at all. A buddy of mine got Lasik last winter. He seems pretty happy with the results. If I had a couple extra thousand dollars, I might consider it.

Thanatos 2007-11-15 07:13 AM

How much does it cost?

HandOfHeaven 2007-11-15 09:21 AM

My dad has these glasses that change tint when he goes outside into the sun. Only drawback is that they don't change back as quickly when it's cold outside.

Jessifer 2007-11-15 09:52 AM

Yes. I need a new prescription, too. Badly.

Transitions, HoH?

HandOfHeaven 2007-11-15 01:35 PM

Why yes, that's what they are called! Thanks Jessifer. I'm not too sure how much more they cost though. Quite a bit for that type of lense, I would imagine.

Jessifer 2007-11-15 01:42 PM

They're a lot, and not worth it. They have a habit of not transitioning after a while.

Or at least my dad's did.

KagomJack 2007-11-15 02:45 PM

I do until I can buy contacts.

HandOfHeaven 2007-11-15 03:03 PM

We'll see if my dad needs to get a new pair after this winter. Sometimes his get stuck for long periods of time, but normally they change. I would rather just get clip on shades, or just wear shades while I have my contacts in.

Lenny 2007-11-15 03:37 PM

The original models were awful - it took them a long time to change, changed if you went under bright artificial light (such as at a supermarket), and lost the ability to change after a while.

The newest ones, though, are supposedly a lot better - quicker, 'cleverer' (will only change in sunlight), and don't lose their changey bit for years (you'd change glasses before it did).

Vault Dweller 2007-11-16 02:08 AM

HoH: I had a pair of clip-ons for my old glasses...they were the tits, as it were.

Thanatos: I think he paid around $400 per eye, but had about a week long recovery with at least 2 days of near total blindness. He underwent some alternate version due to the thinness of his cornea, or something along those lines. I don't know exactly. I'm not gonna pretend to be a Lasik expert.

Dar_Win 2007-11-16 03:16 PM

I have them, but I barely wear them. I don't think I look good with them on.

Same, shitty vision too. I've been sleeping in the ones you aren't supposed to sleep in and now apparently they've found a possible cancerous bump under my eyelid? Or maybe it's a freckle. Either way, whatever.

Thanatos 2007-11-19 09:27 AM

Freckle FTW!!

I've got the same ones you do and I didn't take them out all weekend. I would have.. but I passed out drunk both nights. God, this weekend sucked.

Well I used to have the one's you aren't suppose to sleep in, but the doctor that finally got my checked up said at the current rate my eyes would deterorate within 30-40 years and probably be near blind (i'll be old by then, anyways..but whatever) so I've got the ones that allow 70% more airflow, somehow. They do feel alot better, honestly. So we'll see.
