New Ginormous Avatar rules

Quote:

At level 1, whenever your activity is 75% or higher, you will have the new user panel featuring the large round avatar. To get level 1, simply post "start" in this thread at 100% activity.
At level 2, whenever your activity is 20% or higher, you will have the new user panel. To get level 2, post "start" in this thread at 100% activity, then maintain it for 28 days until you post "complete".
At either level, falling below the required activity does not reset you; the new user panel will automatically activate depending on your activity.
I changed it so it's easier to have; this is retroactive, so previous application for level 2 counts as application for level 1.

Thanatos 2007-10-24 10:49 AM

I like these rules. Good job, WW.

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-24 10:52 AM

So you did combine our ideas. I like it :P

Took me a little bit to understand what you mean. I'll try to simplify it in case anyone doesn't understand.

If I understand right, you reach 100% activity and you automatically get "Level 1." At this point, as long as your activity stays above 75%, you keep the larger postbit. If you so choose, you can hold 100% activity for a month to reach "Level 2." At Level 2, you keep the postbit as long as you stay above 20% activity.

Is that right, WW?

WetWired 2007-10-24 12:04 PM

No, you have to post in the thread for level 1. (and level 2)

Grav 2007-10-24 01:37 PM

I still don't understand. What do I have to do to keep it?

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-24 01:46 PM

Stay above 75% activity, unless you've held 100% for a month, in which case you have to stay above 20% activity.

WetWired 2007-10-24 03:25 PM

Updated the avatar thread and the quote in the OP.

MightyJoe 2007-10-24 05:13 PM

Nice rule change, imo.

FireFox 3 RC1

WetWired, there are some new things you will need to work on for this mod to appropriately work in FireFox 3 RC1.

Download and install it yourself, you will see that the issue is the same as another member when they were on a MAC computer a little while back.

This is where I am supposed to mention errors, etc. right?

WetWired 2008-06-01 03:09 PM

z-index is a part of the CSS standard. If FF doesn't obey it, it's yet another reason it sucks.

That would be me right? No post info or activity meter? Am I right?

Oh yeah, you. That is exactly the problem.

Asamin 2008-06-01 05:08 PM

I fixed it by getting FireFox. Though it seems that it is happening for you on fireFox. It works fine now and has for a while. Check if it has to do with your computer because I have the latest FF and it is fine for me.

It is definitely not my computer. Someone else get FireFox 3 RC1 and prove that on a PC (haven't tested on Linux) that it doesn't show up for you either. I've tested it on my brothers XP and he can't see it either. So it has something to do with FF3RC1 on PC.

!King_Amazon! 2008-06-01 06:04 PM

I'm happy with my current firefox, thanks. Yours sounds like a shitty piece of shit.

Kazilla 2008-08-13 02:00 PM

so, i have to be at 100% (general) 100% (posts), and 100% (visits)? before i can post -start- in the other thread? or is it 1 of the 3 or only general or...

!King_Amazon! 2008-08-13 03:28 PM

Your "overall" percentage is calculated using your post percentage and visit percentage. Your post percentage counts for 80% of your "overall" percentage, and your visit percentage counts for 20% of your "overall" percentage.

The "overall" percentage is what is used to determine whether or not you can have the bigger avatar. It has to be at 100%.

quikspy67 2008-08-25 03:55 AM

The thread is closed and knowone can type start because of that reason.

Lenny 2008-08-25 07:31 AM

When you hit 100%, the thread is open to you. And seeing as their is no need to type "start" until you've hit 100%, it being closed when you're below 100% is a moot point.

What the crazy brit said.

quikspy67 2008-08-26 12:35 AM

Hey that is a good system for it.

Kazilla 2008-09-08 04:38 AM

Wetwired: I think you might add somewhere in there to say that if you want your square picture to compeltely use the circle it needs to be 600 x 600 resolution. At least for me that is what I have figured out, minor tweaking follows.

!King_Amazon! 2008-09-08 06:50 AM

I think that's the best I've seen as far as big avatars go, actually. Most people just stick something bigger in it, and hope it doesn't look retarded.

WetWired 2008-09-08 07:42 AM

Actually, it's 150x150, and it tells you.

If you have a custom avatar and want to keep it as it is, leave the fields below as they are.

Use Custom Avatar

You may upload a new custom image using the controls below.

Option 1 - Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website

Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 150 by 150 pixels or 117.2 KB (whichever is smaller).

Kazilla 2008-09-08 08:14 AM

if you create a 150 by 150 picture it doesnt fill the whole circle, in my experience... my pictures i use as avatar's are all 600 x 600. perhaps its just me tho

WetWired 2008-09-08 09:09 AM

If you upload anything larger, it downsizes it so that the longest dimention is 150px. Maybe the image you're using has a border? It's also possible that it's something with the resize code if your image takes up too much disk space.

Lenny 2008-09-08 09:33 AM

Just to let you know, the Ginormous avatars don't work very well with Google Chrome.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97...882/chrome.jpg

Nor does the WYSIWIG editor, strangely enough.

WetWired 2008-09-08 09:40 AM

Get a browser that supports z-index, thank you

Lenny 2008-09-08 09:51 AM

Don't worry, it's not my default. :p

I'd have thought that by now WebKit would support z-index. Ah well.

WetWired 2008-09-08 10:07 AM

Actually, I think it's some obscure interaction. Maybe you should bring it up with the developers and see what they say. I've looked into fixing it, and I can't find anything wrong with the way I'm doing it. Not only does each part have a z-index specifying the stacking order, but they are in the document in the order they should be stacked, which is the fallback plan if there are no z-indexes, according to the standard, IIRC.

I've had that same problem lately, but only at home and with firefox. I use the same version of firefox at work and at home (2.0.0.16), but it only happens at home. The only difference I can think of is I'm running Vista in 64-bit at home, whereas at work I'm just using XP.

Kazilla 2008-09-09 08:16 PM

just looking for confirmation, is there in fact only a level 2 now? or is it still a level 1 then you move up to level 2

WetWired 2008-09-10 06:20 AM

Perhaps you should re-read it, because obviously you are at level 1 right now, what with the large avatar and all.

Kazilla 2008-09-10 07:43 AM

eh, where could i read that i am level one atm? all level two gets you is the abillity to move down to 20%, theres nothing defined anywhere that says hey, your level 1

WetWired 2008-09-10 09:31 AM

Besides the simple logic of "I haven't been at 100% for 28 days then posted 'complete'," there's always
http://zelaron.com/forum/showthread.php?p=580469

Kazilla 2008-09-10 09:34 AM

you edited that after i had posted for confirmation, also - it was said there is no level two anymore, so the simple logic of me posting complete wouldnt be a valid defense.

you do realize all this required was a simple yes or no answer right?

WetWired 2008-09-10 09:43 AM

It gets edited all the time. What's your point? Your name wasn't on the level 2 list when you posted the original question, so obviously you weren't level 2. Also, wouldn't you expect an official announcement if the rules had changed? If nothing else, it's obvious that Thanatos is at level 1 (because his full avatar shows in his profile, but only the 80x80 center on his posts) and that Chruser and me are at level 2 (because we're under 75% and have large avatars in our posts).

Asamin 2008-09-10 01:40 PM

Look at that, I am like 40 some % and have my avatar big. I don't know if I am level two.

Sum Yung Guy 2009-05-06 12:44 PM

Everytime I get close to 100% I end up having to leave for whatever reason like WAR. Or in this case away from war.
