Detroit Lions

With the addition of Calvin Johnson are the Lions actually going to be able to pull off more than 3 wins this season?

D3V 2007-08-26 07:28 PM

They might, the lions have been notorious for being shitty the past few seasons, I see them going all the way to 7-9 or so, almost even. They're going to gain some momentum.

gruesomeBODY 2007-08-26 11:15 PM

Whose there Quaterback

MightyJoe 2007-08-27 12:07 AM

Kitna, they are still going nowhere, last year they were suppposed to get like 10 wins and I know how that season turned out.

Thanatos 2007-08-27 08:14 AM

I went to the Colts vs. Lions game this past Saturday. 37-10 Colts. What a great showing by the Lions. lol. I was 8 rows off the field and lemme tell you, Calvin Johnson is one big motherfucker. He's got great size and speed for a WR, he could do some major damage this season. He didn't really do much vs the Colts though. About the 3rd quarter he had a pass thrown to him, he about caught it and a LB came out of nowhere and nailed him in the back, his helmet went flying and he didn't catch it. Welcome to the NFL, rookie.

D3V 2007-08-27 08:15 AM

I seen that.

It reminded me of the catch Reggie Williams (Jags WR) had last week and got popped by one of the Tampa LBs and popepd his helmet off...

Lost-Soul 2007-08-27 09:27 AM

Jon Kitna didn't even play in the game. Detroit Lions Super Bowl Bound! You heard it here first!

Lost-Soul 2007-08-27 09:29 AM

I love foorball season, I can already taste the hot wings and the nicest Sunday beer specials!

D3V 2007-08-27 10:11 AM

Good to hear another sports-enthusiust around here. Though, your outrageous claims of the Lions going to the superbowl are just something to laugh at, we all know the Jaguars are going on the AFC side, but certainly not the Lions, I mean c'mon, 3 wins last year? GTFO

Thanatos 2007-08-27 10:22 AM

What D3V said. It's nice to see another sports fan around here. Too many anime knuckleheads roam these boards. :(

I actually have faith in the Lions this year. I think they'll do okay, definitely not SB bound, but okay.

D3V, you guys have no chance!

D3V 2007-08-27 10:46 AM

Just wait baby, colts are going down for another two games of domination. If we could JUST GET A FUCKING QUARTERBACK TO MAKE UP THEIR GODDAMN MINDS AND LEARN HOW TO PLAY SOME FUCKING BALL FOR MORE THAN A FEW GAMES EVERY OTHER YEAR WE WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE

But for now, we're going to have to rely on our defense and ground game to do most of the punishment.

Lost-Soul 2007-08-27 10:53 AM

Who's your team D3V?

gruesomeBODY 2007-08-27 10:54 AM

Once they stack the line against your two runningbacks, your offense will be screwed. Sorry about that haha.

We definately have the talent in the receiving core, it just always feels like the QB and receivers are NEVER on the same page. It'll be different this year though, I've still got faith in Leftwich, just give it some more time o_O

Lost-Soul 2007-08-27 12:34 PM

Man I live in Florida and don't much care for any of the teams here. If only Detroit had one game down here.

D3V 2007-08-27 12:46 PM

Yeah, I live close enough to Jacksonville to call it my home.. ALWAYS Been a Jags fan since '95 when I was a younger kid and they got the bid over L.A.. when us and Carolina came into the league.... Hmm, great day.

The Lions wouldn't come down here anyways, we only play good teams here in Florida.

Lost-Soul 2007-08-27 12:50 PM

Haha!

I didnt mean that your WR's sucked, i just thought your QB's lacked. Hope allgoes well with your team. I mean you have a better chance then my Giants would ever have, playing in the same divison as the Eagles and Cowboys.

D3V 2007-08-27 02:51 PM

Yeah especially with crybabies like Eli and Tiki

It'll be all good though eventually man, NYG have always been pretty good franchise. You guys are probably going to go through a rebuilding year, I mean hell, better now than later. Say bye-bye to coughlin as well, shit, we got rid of him for the same reason you guys hate him, lmao.

gruesomeBODY 2007-08-27 06:51 PM

Im so glad his contract is up after this year. I cant wait to see who we get. maybe somebody that can get the ball rolling with this team. Oh well, ill just drink my way through this season lol

D3V 2007-08-28 06:57 AM

Haha I hear yah, I hope the Jags 1st team offense doesn't play like they have during the preseason.

gruesomeBODY 2007-08-28 07:26 AM

I actually have been so busy, that i havent watched a preseason game yet. With that said, my friend (JRwakebord) just got tickets to the Pats/Giants game on Thursday. Im thinking about going, but since its the last preseason game, none of the starters will play. It still will be fun though.

Thanatos 2007-08-28 07:40 AM

I thought the starters would play for the majority of the last preseason game? At least, they've been getting more playing time as the preseason drags on..

No, the 4th game is the final judgement game for the 2nd/3rd stringers to fight for their jobs. MOST Teams have a majority of their starters on the 3rd game, and the 4th preseason game they let them play a few drives and let the backups go at it as they prepare for the regular season to start.

MightyJoe 2007-08-28 08:01 AM

Yea, preseason games are mainly for 3rd string players trying to earn a roster spot.

Yea, they dont want to see any of their stars actually get hurt

Vault Dweller 2007-08-29 12:54 AM

Dammit! Now I'm getting excited about this year. I hate working Sundays. I get to actually watch maybe 3 or 4 games during the season. The rest I end up listening to on the radio or checking the scores online.

gruesomeBODY 2007-08-29 08:44 AM

scratch me going to the game. Me and JR are just going into Btown to drink and watch the game instead

Dude, I don't even have cable, let alone recordable TV. Aside from Steelers games (when I get the chance) and the news, I don't watch much network television. I'm all about the DVDs.

Lost-Soul 2007-08-30 08:39 PM

Sooner or later we're gonna have to start a straight NFL forum, but I know how much everyone likes the Lions so....

Thanatos 2007-08-31 11:36 AM

Eh, this forum is fine. There aren't that many people here that are in tune with sports.

Why do you like the Lions so much?

D3V 2007-08-31 12:21 PM

Yeah honestly. The Lions are one of the worst teams since Barry left.. You mentioned you lived in Fla? Why not root for a team that's actually worth rooting for... honestly?

Lost-Soul 2007-08-31 12:40 PM

First off whats there not to like about the Lions. I have been a Lions fan my entire life, I recently moved to Florida in the past couple months and can't ever see myself rooting for one these teams. 4 Life! Lions go all the way I will have a Superbowl ticket.

Actually the lions have a decent recieving core. They are rebuilding the team for the past few years. All those rookies back then are now getting alot better. Good things will come from them soon. Them and Arizona haha

Lost-Soul 2007-09-10 04:58 PM

For those of you who seen that dominating performance by the Lions got a treat! Thats a little preview of the Super Bowl... Jon Kitna pickin apart defenses like it's goin out of style.

MightyJoe 2007-09-10 05:19 PM

lol they were up 17-0, I was like hey they're going to win a game, even if its against the Radiers. Then they were only up 23-20 or something, and I figured they'ed lose but sure enough they held on. Would have watch the game, only had more important things to tend to.
