This almost tops the "Stupid things Thanatos has done" list

You know how people jokingly swerve their cars in your direction to scare you? This is that, gone horribly wrong.

I was pulling into my apartment complex and my roomate and 2 of our buds are playin frisbee. One is in the middle of the road. He sees my car and acts like he's going to chuck the frisbee at my windshield. Well, I accelerate and head towards him. He's not moving.. I slam on my brakes and swerve left to avoid hitting him. Instead of him moving towards the grass to his left, he takes a right and heads into the middle of the road. (Why? I donno)

SPLAT

My side mirror is now dangling on my passenger side and my windshield is all sorts of fucked up. The damage to him? Nothing. He's perfectly fine.

As soon as it happened my other friend came running up, opened my door, and said calmly, "Why did you do that?" lol

Gettin it fixed tomorrow morning though. Stupid? Yes. Somewhat funny after everything is said and done? Hell yes. Won't be doin that anytime soon!

!King_Amazon! 2007-06-25 11:44 AM

Wow, just be glad it didn't end worse than that. I thought all along you were going to say you ended up hospitalizing/killing one of your friends and you were going to prison for the rest of your life. Just be glad it's only a busted windshield and a broken side-view mirror, it could have been so much worse.

That said, that's pretty funny.

D3V 2007-06-25 12:29 PM

Ahahaha.

I'm sure everyone can relate to that, somewhat. I've had my brothers ride on the back of my jeep going down our dirt road going about 45, and having them jump off.. if that counts...

Thanatos 2007-06-25 01:16 PM

Lmao. That would suck hardcore. I don't know what I had done if I severely hurt him. Yes, I was very very lucky in this situation. I told him "Hey man you're obviously not destined to die yet, you're gonna do something important with your life." His reply was, "Fuck no I'm not man" lol he's a hippy.

You shoulda told him he's gonna be america's next top model. Now that would have topped the situation off nicely.

Thanatos 2007-06-25 01:29 PM

Hahahaha I'm gonna tell him that.

slaynish 2007-06-27 12:53 PM

WOW.

Yeah, that's retarded.

I mean, retarded for him to run into the street....

He should pay!, lmao just kidding.

Titusfied 2007-06-27 01:26 PM

Seriously, why in his right mind would he run INTO the street. Now THAT'S hillarious....

amazing

HandOfHeaven 2007-06-27 03:19 PM

Sometimes hippies are too free of spirits. Like the ones that cross busy streets hoping that they don't hit.

Tyrannicide 2007-06-27 07:43 PM

Any consolation, I was coming down a stepish hill(loose gravel, washboarded to hell) riding the brake and I took the corner and lost the back end on the gravel and washboard(car bounced a bit on the washboard), sent the back end swirving to the left a bit, me being stupid at 9:45am and in a bit of a panic, I tried to correct it and braked a bit ahrder adn sent the backend right around the opposite way so I was sliding down the hill almost completely backwards, into a ditch. Through this, I hit a barbed wire fence and went up on my side.

I came out fine(shocked as fuck though, was scary)and the car had passneger door and fender all bent to shit, mirror off and both passenger tired deflated. Was also scratched to shit.

Mind you, its an old 96 Grand Am( was in great shape though) so its not too bad(woulda been fucked was it one of our new Hemi Trucks). Junk yard parts cost nothing to get and put on, the only expensive thing is the paint job that will need to be done.

Happened this morning, car should be ready on monday. I am one lucky fuck, another car could have been coming or I could have went right over on the roof or hit one of the many tree's, etc.

Vault Dweller 2007-06-28 01:08 AM

Perhaps he's one of the pedestrians from the GTA games. Those guys piss me off. You know - the ones that jump into the path of your car rather than out of it.

Thanatos 2007-06-28 07:33 AM

Drivin around in a '07 PT Cruiser for the time being... it's pretty nice. Too bad I'm not gay or I'd buy one.

EDIT: Wanna know how much it's gonna cost to get fixed? $3100.... YEAH RIGHT. lol good thing I have a $250 deductible. Fuckin car repairmen.

Vault Dweller 2007-06-28 12:13 PM

Man, that's some bullshit. The kicker is, it probably only costs 1/4 of that for parts. They jack you on the labor.

klo 2007-06-28 01:30 PM

Yea, when I ran into kaneda's car it cost like $5200 to get it fixed, $1000 deductible. :(

No, It's my in my parents name with my car as one of theirs and I'm a driver on it...I don't know why its so high. My monthly payments are $350. Yea, pretty shitty. It's full coverage as well.

Thanatos 2007-06-29 09:50 AM

Well fuck a duck! You're getting screwed.

klo 2007-06-29 10:47 AM

I was in 2 accidents when I was 16, and have a newer car. :(. Oh, and got into the accident with kaneda abou 7 mos ago...

Thanatos 2007-06-29 10:57 AM

Women drivers suck.

klo 2007-06-29 11:40 AM

I'm a great driver, Now...

D3V 2007-06-29 12:12 PM

My insur with an 01 car that i'm paying off is 219 a month, with full coverage, no wrecks but I have had 2 "outrageous" speeding tickets, 63 in a 45, and 76 in a 45.. blah, but what's weird when I had my jeep, my rates only went up a little bit (when I got the tickets), but when we put the strat on the coverage, it went from 93 --> 219... /month. Sucks

kyeruu 2007-07-08 07:11 PM

THAts the fault of the goverment.

MightyJoe 2007-07-08 11:04 PM

Thanks for posting.

Willkillforfood 2007-07-08 11:45 PM

I know males are more likely to get into an accident ...but I'd like it if they factored in miles driven, etc. I'm sorry, but most of the females I know are a lot worse drivers than the males. I guess guys just push the envelope too much.

Vault Dweller 2007-07-09 02:17 AM

Elderly drivers make me nervous. I hate to be prejudiced, but their reaction time is just naturally worse than (most) younger people.

Minivan moms who talk on cellphones while speeding through school zones piss me off.

I absolutely loathe old drivers. I believe they should go into the DMV routinely (maybe every year) and take a test to determine if they can keep driving, starting at age oh.... 70.

This is a true story, no exaggerations: I was at the liquor store waiting on my friend to come back when the old lady that parked next to us got back in her van to leave. It took her five (5) minutes to back out of her spot. She would go about an inch, brake, look back, go another inch, brake, look back. THERE WAS NOTHING BEHIND HER.

There's no telling what the elderly are capable of when driving.

HandOfHeaven 2007-07-09 08:02 AM

Have you seen the South Park episode of old people driving?

Thanatos 2007-07-09 09:38 AM

Hell yeah I have. It's hilarious.

klo 2007-07-09 09:41 AM

My dad is like that :(. He's just extreeeemly "careful"

Vault Dweller 2007-07-09 10:23 AM

What makes me wonder is how some of these older people who can barely walk without assistance and have obvious muscular or neurological damage (as evidenced by perpetual shaking) are capable of operating what amounts to a motorized leathal weapon.

klo 2007-07-09 10:34 AM

Oh, my dad's not that bad. But...
My uncle, he has parkensins (sp) and he can barely talk..walk. He had a lot of money (millions) but soon after being diagnosed lost (gave) it all...to some girl he was sleeping with.
He was still driving in Phoenix Az until about 5 or 6 mos ago when he caused 3 accidents in one week. It's actually really sad.

Vault Dweller 2007-07-09 11:33 AM

Agreed. How do you go about telling someone that they don't have the right to drive anymore after decades? The car is the true American symbol of freedom, moreso than the flag or the Statue of Liberty or DisneyLand or what have you.
One of my customers had his liscense taken away after a couple of accidents (he's in his late 70's and had a stroke several years ago), and you could tell it just crushed him. For older guys, taking away their right to drive is the effective equivalent of neutering them (an action generally already performed in the literal sense by age). It is a really sad situation to be in, but necessary sometimes.
Shit...that was depressing.

!King_Amazon! 2007-07-09 03:07 PM

It seems like drivers are getting worse every day here. The elderly are bad, but there are some normal aged people who can't drive for shit either.

D3V 2007-07-09 03:17 PM

They need to just make the elderly re-take their driving test when they hit the retirement age... simple as that. I mean my own relatives for the most part, they are excellent drivers, but when I"m on my way to work or out in town or anything they're usually trying to be too safe, in-turn putting people in danger.

gruesomeBODY 2007-07-09 08:19 PM

I hate to say it but drivers tests dont prove shit. Everybody can practice for a test and pass. The problem is that people are breaking the law, and doing it knowingly. Cops need to punish more often and make fines real stiff if they want to get the point across. My friend got pulled over doing 95 in a 65 zone and had to pay a 350$ ticket. THATS IT. IF he got his license taken away, maybe he would learn his lesson. I hate to be the bad guy, but i see so much stupid shit happen without consequences. Assholes need to be punished for thier actions.
