Where has Raziel been?

Anyone know?

KagomJack 2006-12-10 12:10 PM

For a short while I thought he had migrated to the peta-sucks.com forums, but that was a completely different Raziel. But I've no clue :/

Grav 2006-12-10 01:40 PM

Probably busy living his life... he'll come back some day.

Unless he's dead.

KagomJack 2006-12-10 01:43 PM

Zelaron is more important than reall life. Gawd!

Sovereign 2006-12-10 08:56 PM

Last I heard he quit his job as the night manager (or something) of a hotel and moved to where he doesnt have reliable internet.

Raziel would never forget us.

If Raziel is dying, Zelaron will be here until he goes.

I still check in every once in a while. I use my girlfriend's computer when I'm at her place, which is usually at least three days out of the week. I just don't post very often simply because of the lask of interesting conversation.

On a completely unrelated note, I love my Wii.

!King_Amazon! 2006-12-11 08:42 AM

That gives me more incentive to try it, though you always were a nintendo fanboy.

Ooooooooooooh.

Raziel 2006-12-11 08:48 AM

I'm willing to listen to other people's opinions on games or consoles. I'm a very level-headed individual. What I'm not willing to calmly tolerate is D3V.

If you find an opportunity, give Rayman or Excite Truck a try. Zelda is automatically phenomenal, no test-run needed.

!King_Amazon! 2006-12-11 08:49 AM

I was already planning to get a Wii after I heard what the majority thinks of it.

I'm also going to have to start saving for a PS3 early, because once FFXIII comes out I'm going to have to get one.

What are you thinking of FFXII Raziel, if you've played it?

EDIT: I can't even remember, are you even a FF fan?

Yeah, we've been thinking of shutting down the forum for that very reason.

Raziel 2006-12-11 09:01 AM

It's an entertaining machine. I'm just bummed that I've already finished both Zelda and Rayman, and I've got a month or two before anything else of note is released for the system.

I haven't picked FFXII up yet, actually. I've been on this several year "Final Fantasy Renaissance" in which I've been trying to play all ten games either for the first or second times. I just finished FFX for the first time about two months ago, and I loved it. I just need to finish replaying FFIX, and pick up FFIII on DS, and then I'll have the entire first ten games under my belt. I was planning to pick XII up after that. How is it so far?

It's very unlike the past FF games when it comes to gameplay, though when it comes to the actual game and story it's pretty resemblant of the older games in my opinion.

FFX was indeed awesome. Nikki says FFX-2 was good too, but I can't force myself to play through more than an hour of it.

Lenny 2006-12-11 01:04 PM

I sat and watched my friend bomb through it in a day.

It's not a bad game, but it's nowhere as good as FFX.

I've completed the first chapter of it completely... and can't bear to put myself through the rest. Unlike FFX, with it's replay factor, once you've seen FFX-2 all the way through once you just lose all heart to go through it all again.

Well, at least I do.

!King_Amazon! 2006-12-11 04:16 PM

I just hated the whole feel of FFX-2. I hated how they never actually called Tidus "Tidus", simply because not everyone went through the first game with him named that way. I hated how all 3 of the main characters were girls, not that I'm against girls or anything, but it just felt weird playing 3 girls as the main characters who change what they can do by getting dress spheres. I wouldn't say FF is a manly type franchise, but they got a bit too girly with FFX-2.

I also hated how the game was in chapters, and how it didn't really expand on FFX all that much, it was pretty much like a new game with somewhat similar characters(Yuna is completely 100% different in FFX-2.)

Mantralord 2006-12-11 05:26 PM

raziel what do you think of me being admin

i hope to hear your apathetic answer towards my "mediocrity"

WetWired 2006-12-11 06:14 PM

Yuna is still Yuna, she's just had a lot of Rikku rubbed off on her. FFX marks the end of an era in its world, so of course there isn't much to expand on, however, FFX-2 delves into some of the world's history. The chapters thing was pretty dumb. I was fine playing with three girls as characters, and found the dresssphere system logical and consistant with the lore, as well as making much more sense as a way to swap out different capabilities during a fight than having seven characters who all fail if three of them get knocked out.

Lenny 2006-12-12 06:25 AM

I prefer the 7 different characters.

They give the story more depth, and it's a lot more fun to customise 7 completely different characters than 3 characters 7 times.

What qualifies as interesting conversation?

Funny. Your girlfriend loves my wii...OH SNAP!

KagomJack 2006-12-12 11:08 PM

Pffft, you have FF 3 DS, not the real FF3. There's enough differences for someone as picky as me to notice. :)

Raziel 2006-12-13 11:12 PM

That is the real FF3. Just a 3D remake.

An actual conversation that doesn't invariably devolve into mindless babble. That's becoming hard to find on this forum, it seems to me.

I actually think X has become my new favorite in the bunch. Never had the desire to play X-2.

KagomJack 2006-12-13 11:17 PM

Sorry bro, too many new things about it as well as some additions to the storyline to make it somewhat of its own entity. But that's how I view it. I still wanna play it since I'm a total FF fanboy

It's always been like that, though.

There was so little actual substance to the game in the first place, you can't really call the additions an "alteration" of the story. The characters weren't even people. They were avatars for the job system, that's it.

Grav 2006-12-14 01:13 AM

So don't come back.

Raziel 2006-12-14 01:25 AM

I was explaining why I haven't been active lately. I said a "lack" of the things I'd like, not a complete absence. That's why I post when I see something that catches my eye, but I have no qualms with stating the rarity of such occurences. It seems retarded that I should be told to leave simply for explaining why I haven't been around recently.

Grav 2006-12-14 01:26 AM

Psyche.

Or is it sike?

You liked X over VI? Rearry? Even after playing through it recently?

Anyway, FFXII is pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised by the storyline. I'm right at the end of it now, and the plot's been pretty good so far. Though, the game does feel a bit short. I'm around 30 hours, and I spent... oh... probably 8 of that doing unnecessary level-building and a few doing sidequests. There's probably a nautical shitton of sidequests left for me though.

I don't really like the new battle system. It's not terrible, and it does add a little bit of skill to the strategy previously required. It's just that, in most cases, you don't really do anything. I read a review a while back that said that they made a monotonous experience autonomous instead of making it fun. I completely agree with that. Still... if you've got time to kill and money to blow, I'd say go for it. It's pretty fun.

BZZT? What? Your mom was sucking my dick? Yea, she likes it long, hard and black.

KagomJack 2006-12-14 07:33 PM

I have to agree with you on that.

Lenny 2006-12-15 10:01 AM

Oh come on now. Where's the in-yo-face subtlety?

No-one insults someone elses mother with the phrase "enormous hooker breasts".

Welcome back Raziel!

Both of us talked like that not too long ago. It wasn't quite that bad, but looking back at old posts it was pretty bad.

Yeah, I'd have to say I honestly liked X more than VI. My biggest reason is the gameplay. X did so much right with the alteration of standard Final Fantasy gameplay. The ability to switch characters in and out of the party in battle, more specialized combat roles (but not ones that necessarily pidgeonhole characters into classes) a looser, more personalized weapons system, a more involved and much less mundane experience/skill system, quicker-paced battles, turn-based combat (which I definitely prefer over ATB) and a lot of specific tweaks and improvements like the reliability of Rikku's Steal command, or the vastly superior functionality of Wakka's Slot Overdrive over it's crappy FFVII and FFVIII counterparts.

On top of that, the story was probably the best in the series, hands down. Don't get me wrong, VI is still phenomenal, but X hinged around two primary characters with very different experiences and perspectives on the events of the game. Tidus, seeing the Sin Pilgrimage as an archaic, purposeless and cruel system of beliefs, being unable to truly empathize with Yuna's internal crisis of faith regarding the disintegration of the foundation of her spiritual ideals. None of the other games in the series had characterization or personal conflicts that even approached something as complex as that. FFVI had its ideas about finding a cause to believe in, FFVIII had its ideas about opening oneself to the chance of pain in exchange for happiness, but those are fairly simple concepts. Religious and spiritual concepts, especially those that challenge one's beliefs are some of the more complex areas to derive a story from.

So yeah, all in all, X is my new favorite in the bunch. Never thought I'd hear myself saying that, but it's true.
