I know I should be the last person to suggest something like this  but has anyone thought of a rating system. So we could know whos the most popular and stuff liek in highschool! No not really gay like that but something where you could give people a little +1 something for a good post/thread. I would suggest against giving out negative points because it could get out of hand, or atleast put some restrictions on it. Or even put restriction on plus points so they actually have some value. Eh! Ehhh..!
Then again our communitiy doesn't really seem big enough for that. |
haha, this'd screw me over :P.

voting ftl
Edit, will be grossly abused |
This kind of thing was suggested years ago, literally. Once we decided to get serious about it and start figuring out details, a complete onslaught of obstacles and bullshit problems came up. It's simply not possible, and the main problem is bias.

Ah, ignorance is BLIS.

im the utopia of ignorance?

I'd be like..."The Vagina'd One", wouldn't I?

Grav's stamp of approval?
|
The forum has a system like that built in, but I'm not a fan. At one point, I was going to implement an "Award" system for use with a shop hack where you could pay to design awards and tag people with them (yes, this was my answer to "Grav's stamp of approval"), but there just weren't any good shop hacks.
|
Give each mod their own stamp of approval. That way they can come to regret it when they see what they support later on. Bahah.
|
And make that stamp unseeable by everyone except staff! Like user notes.

Lol. What Do Mine Say? :d

We did used to have that long time ago...I remember also that u could get gold to buy items for under ur avatar and stuff...haha fun times, but of course grav exploited the hell out of it and it got sliced...
|
Me? What the hell are you talking about, dumbass? I don't even remember that system, I probably wasn't here.

What about those friends of yours who have so much fun with iPods and server programs?
They might be happy for more random things to do. :p |
Well, if it gets up and running, I want to be one of the first to know.
|
Come to think of it I think I've actually suggested the same thing before.

Reoccuring genius I say ... :P. How're the triplets doing, Kaneda?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any experience with Flash ActionScript? While real-time combat itself can be neat, there's recent server software for Flash which allows real-time multiplayer applications as well. In short, players may be able to party up versus monsters and do real-time co-op battles. Maybe clan fights as well, e.g. 4 vs 4 players.
The server software itself is free with a user cap of 20 users. A 100 user cap costs 500 euro, an an allowance for unlimited users costs 2000 euro. I don't think there's really any point in making an investment unless we can get our hands on some programmers who can work on the game. Again, I could probably make it on my own with a huge time investment, but art school takes a lot of time away from me, so I'd rather design the environments and such, as there are likely much better programmers around. If you have any experience with C++ and/or PHP, you already know a majority of the Flash ActionScript language, you just have to get used to it. |
Are you actually going to spend 500+ euros on it? :o. Expensive.

I wouldn't mind, it was pretty fun.
