Santa

Out of curiosity, what do you guys think about parents telling their kids about Santa? Do you think they should expose the myth from a young age, or should they try and make their kids believe in Santa as long as possible?

Thanatos 2005-12-23 10:40 AM

Santa works for the government.

I'm sure I'll tell my kid about Santa, because didn't you have a kickass time when you were little at X-mas? I mean, some freakin guy brought you presents if you were nice. Little kids are innocent and should stay that way. Let 'em believe what they want.

Acer 2005-12-23 10:51 AM

I would probly tell them when they got into school, because other kids may be like "haha you beleive in Santa" and shit... kids are innocent? some can be demons

Demosthenes 2005-12-23 11:44 AM

Ehh, I don't know. I would just feel like I'm lying to my kids unncessarily. I don't feel like I want to lie to my kids without a better reason.

Lenny 2005-12-23 11:53 AM

I'd keep the myth alive until they stop believing on their own. If necessary I'd strap a few pillows to my torso, put on a giant red suit and beard, and pay them a visit. :)

As Thanatos said, you have so much fun at Christmas waiting for Santa, why spoil it for the little 'uns?

Jamesadin 2005-12-23 12:06 PM

Yeah, I'd tell em. It makes the holidays so much more fun for them.

gruesomeBODY 2005-12-23 02:02 PM

obviously, if u tell them about santa, u have o tell them about the easter bunny and tooth fairy. I will tell my kids and make them as happy as i am around christmas. Out of habit, my parents still sign some of my gifts from santa. And like lenny said, id go and get a suit and jump through my chimmney if it meant keeping it alive.

Mantralord 2005-12-23 03:06 PM

god is santa for grown ups

Xenn 2005-12-23 03:10 PM

So true. The whole country is getting into it man. All the celebritys are doing the athiest thing and liek they had to ban athiesism manuals from all the middle schools. Its freaking huge, and it just popped up recently, and it will soon dissapear. Ya athiesm is a fad... like YoYos!

Aurvian 2005-12-23 06:41 PM

I remeber yoyos... btw when I was young my mom told me that santa wasnt real only thing they really told me was about the tooth fairy but then I found all my teeth in a medicine bottle one day and put it under my pillow... didnt get any money after that..

Acer 2005-12-23 07:21 PM

I dont beleive in shit... but christmas is fun as shit. I don't see the relation between xmas and jesus... its not really his bday, no one gets "jesus" shit anyways execpt you'll see that scene in some peoples yard, and some go to church. other than that... xmas is a free for all holiday IMO

Jessifer 2005-12-23 07:55 PM

Some kid at my neices school told her that Santa wasn't real, and her exact words to him were "He's real if you believe in him, so shut up because you don't know anything."

THAZ MUH GURL, Y0!

Anyway, there's a guy at work who looks a lot like Santa, and whenever the kids see him they always point and go "Hi Santa!". I think it's cute, so yeah. I'll tell them Santa is real. It's nice to be able to believe that there's something positive in the world when you're that age, something apart from all the violence on the tv and sometimes even around you in the real world.

Adrenachrome 2005-12-24 12:41 PM

I'd probly tell my kids early, tell them that I represent the idea of Santa and they better bee good all year or they aint gettin good presents.

Yeah that's pretty much what I'll tell my kids.

Dar_Win 2005-12-24 01:25 PM

I'll probably do something like that, too.

Hades-Knight 2005-12-24 01:34 PM

I'd tell them they have no presents because a black man jumped santa :(

Dar_Win 2005-12-24 01:45 PM

Are you also going to tell them to join the KKK?

Jamesadin 2005-12-24 04:21 PM

But seriously, if you tell them that no santa exists, they may also ruin it for other kids.

Mantralord 2005-12-24 05:15 PM

i guess no one should know god doesnt exist so they dont ruin it for other adults

AHAHAHAHAHA good one :D

Jessifer 2005-12-24 07:45 PM

And tell them if they don't go to sleep on Christmas Eve, Santa'll just fly over and won't deliver any presents.

Ganga 2005-12-25 01:45 AM

I will tell my kids about santa b/c I always wanted a holiday like this.

pr0xy 2005-12-25 12:42 PM

There is no proof either way if god exists or not.

Meh... Saint Nick did exist though... *Shrug* I'll prolly tell them. For me christmas is about my family. And since I don't like most of my family... Santa or not. I don't enjoy christmas.

Lenny 2005-12-25 01:26 PM

When there's a Mrs. pr0xy and the pitter patter of tiny little pr0xy's you'll like your family. And you'll really begin to enjoy Christmas. Just making the little 'uns happy, seeing their faces light up when they open something they really want, or find a present that comes as a big surprise. And when they come downsatairs in the morning and see the big presents underneath the Christmas Tree they'll be jumping for joy. And the night before they'll be really excited. And you could get some of that porridge and sparkley thing mixture that you throw on your doorstep to show Santa the way. And all the little pr0xy's can throw out handfuls all over the drive. And then when they're drifting off to sleep you can let out a faint "Ho Ho Ho". And you can stand at the door to their bedrooms and watch as they drift off to a dream filled sleep with little smiles on their faces as they think of Santa and the Christmas Day to follow.

Heavenly ain't it? :)

Grav 2005-12-25 02:21 PM

Actually that sounds really creepy. You want to hand out stuff to kids and watch them as they sleep?

Kids are so adorable when they're sleeping. They look nothing like the little hellions that they are when they're awake. They almost look...dare I say it...innocent! ^_^

Curian 2005-12-28 06:41 PM

I wouldn't because to me Santa kicks ass he is a means of control over kids all year round man.....abuse it

And I want to know where this BS came from about Christmas being JC's Birthday when it was a Dutch event (Yes note i said event not holiday because holiday comes from Holy Day) created in memory of an old man who used to make toys and give them to kids and the day he was caught (since the dutch berghers didn't like him ) was the 25th of December so for his sake and as a rebellious coup they immidiatly made it a national festival regardless of what the berghers thought thus making the berghers accept it since they can't very well arrest their entire populace otherwise they get no taxes no food or services.

Take that you dirty Christians I just Pdiddled your asses.

Lenny 2005-12-29 05:56 AM

Evidence shows that Christ was born in around 4A.D sometime in the Summer months. In the 2000 years between then and now the Church (who were extremely powerful for a vast majority of that time) probably took the date as their own to celebrate the birth of Christ. Who knows why? Or when for that matter?

Curian 2006-01-03 04:23 PM

So they can undermine another Wiccan festival probably, remember now this is the Catholic church Lenny they took over Europe through fear and murder and managed to keep a lid on it until recently. Look at Holloween they changed that festival too because they didn't like it.

Dirty Christians.

Lenny 2006-01-04 12:57 AM

Get out of the Catholic Church you bloody Pagan!

I think I was christened a Roman Catholic...hmmm...what a weird old world.

The Catholic Chruch took over the whole world...or at least tried to. If it weren't for the "devils" as they called them, they'd have taken over Jerusalem and the surrounding area too.

JRwakebord 2006-01-04 11:44 AM

Organized religion should be abolished, end of story. I'll have my kids believing in Santa in a non-religious context, however. No jesus mumbo-jumbo, just presents for being good.

gruesomeBODY 2006-01-04 07:35 PM

God ur all going to hell.

JRwakebord 2006-01-05 09:38 AM

I might consider that a threat if I believed in hell.

Lenny 2006-01-05 10:02 AM

One of my best friends believes that we're all going to hell. He's really religious, and just because we're not, we are going to hell no question about it. Even if we are really good in life it doesn't matter, to hell we go.

Oooooh, scary...

I can't stand people getting all religious at me.

gruesomeBODY 2006-01-05 01:46 PM

u should say ur the devil and see how he reacts.
