New Band Name?

So, we're getting to the point where it's absolutely ridiculous that we haven't decided on a name for this new band. The two biggest contenders are those listed above. Which do you guys prefer, or do you think we can come up with better?

Sovereign 2005-07-04 03:40 AM

Does Deus mean something? I know its part of the title of a game...

I think you can think of something better.

Raziel 2005-07-04 03:41 AM

Deus means "God" in Latin. Pronounced "day-uss".

So, "God Engine", basically.

Sum Yung Guy 2005-07-04 05:19 AM

What band?

Lenny 2005-07-04 09:52 AM

Out of the two, Dues Engine is the best.

Agreed.

Raziel 2005-07-04 02:35 PM

My band.

!King_Amazon! 2005-07-04 02:47 PM

Deus Engine isn't bad but you can come up with something better mate.

-Spector- 2005-07-04 03:35 PM

What type of band is it? What genre of music do you guys play? And how loud/melow is it?

Raziel 2005-07-04 11:41 PM

Metal. Fear Factory meets American Head Charge.

Penguin 2005-07-05 02:11 AM

How about American Head Factory then.

Grav 2005-07-05 09:12 AM

Sword Chucks

Deus gets the vote, but I wouldn't set it in stone, there's better for sure.

Vollstrecker 2005-07-06 04:05 AM

I saw American Head Charge in concert, they were supporting Static-X...

I wasn't impressed by AHC. Are they supposed to be popular?

On Topic: Deus Engine is so... I don't know, Latin seems overdone in the Metal field.

I'm not familiar with Fear Factory's style either, I think I listened to part of one song and didn't care for them at all. Got a few similar artists or something I can relate it to? I'll help think of other ideas. :)

sue_13 2005-07-06 08:25 AM

My band's name is "no mercy percy"

I tried starting a metal band a couple years ago but nobody wanted to hear it around here so it fell apart. We had a list of names we were looking at and if i can find it I'll send you the list to see if you like any.

JRwakebord 2005-07-06 08:31 AM

Of the ones there, Deus Engine

Medieval Bob 2005-07-06 09:32 AM

Mmmmm... Deus Engine is pretty good.

I like the Sword Chucks reference, but I don't think many people would appreciate it.

Adrenachrome 2005-07-06 02:24 PM

I didn't really get it... it rang a bell though, anyone care to elaborate?

undeadzombieguy 2005-07-06 02:30 PM

?

Adrenachrome 2005-07-06 03:06 PM

k thanks.

Medieval Bob 2005-07-06 03:25 PM

There's a few more comics about it as well.

sheerx 2005-07-06 04:26 PM

abyssion is the best one there but it isin't that catchy.
but hey i dunno anything about naming bands.
try something else

Demosthenes 2005-07-06 04:39 PM

Out of the two, I like Abyssion better, but in my humble opinion I don't think either of the two are too catchy.

Well, obviously, this is because you were watching their performance with your head crammed up your ass! I saw them on the same tour, and the show I saw was badass.

But seriously, AHC is awesome. Listen to their debut, The War of Art. One of my favorite albums of all time. Their new album, The Feeding is pretty good too.

How can you not be familiar with Fear Factory? They created that sound. Every band you hear these days with heavy verses and melodic choruses can thank Fear Factory for inventing that entire style. FF is legendary!

Listen to the tracks "Shock", "Edgecrusher", "Zero Signal", "Replica" or "Archetype" and you'll get an idea of what my new band sounds like.

I didn't include that. Grav is attempting to be funny.

Dark Jedi 2005-07-06 07:15 PM

I voted wrong... *Hits self* I once heard the name Abyssian before, and I've liked it ever since. What's an "o" instead of an "a"?

And, for a side note, it was the name of a species on Star Wars.

Mantralord 2005-07-06 07:38 PM

Stock of random stereotypical-to-you names I came up with:

Unsakred Vision
Rammed Vice
Descentor
Nolen Soul
Lurid Space

I like Rammed Vice. Not because I like ramming penises into asses, but because it sounds bold.

Perhaps Bryan and I were still having too good a time from laughing/moshing to the Mexican Speed/Death Metal band that was on before AHC.

That, and all I remember is one song that infuriated me because the one guitarist was playing some high-part that clashed so badly, I wanted to strangle him.

Nothing 2005-07-07 12:57 PM

Sword Chucks!

Damn, that would be funny if you became famous and were named that . .

Raziel 2005-07-07 05:11 PM

Yeah, it'd be a barrell of monkeys. But convincing the other band members to name the band "Sword Chucks", considering that I'm most likely the only guy in the band that would even get the reference, would be like trying to convince D3V (or Ash Williams if you prefer, Nothing) to lose the mullet.

!King_Amazon! 2005-07-07 05:13 PM

I think it would be worth a shot though, you'd have the extra internet publicity to help you get going.

JRwakebord 2005-07-07 05:14 PM

Because we all know that the same people on the internet who would get the reference would be the same people who would actually purchase a cd.

!King_Amazon! 2005-07-07 05:21 PM

That isn't exactly what I meant, asshat.

Raziel 2005-07-07 05:25 PM

No, but it was a pretty snappy comeback.

Nothing 2005-07-08 06:29 AM

Seriously speaking, I think Deus Machine sounds a lot better, but I'm afraid those who know what the first word means, will mistake you for a Christian rock band.

Another promblem, is how do you even pronounce that word? Everyone I know who's played 'Deus Ex' (which really only makes up my father and brother), pronounces it "dooce", but I think it's spoken more like, "day-us".

I don't know.

Grav 2005-07-08 07:11 AM

I've always said Day-us.

JRwakebord 2005-07-08 08:02 AM

Well if he were to ever get on the radio, just let the DJ's know how its pronounced. When they say it correctly on air, it'll catch on.

It's definately day-us. I know this because I remember thinking people were saying "Day of sex" when they said Deus Ex.

Nothing 2005-07-08 10:20 AM

Yeah, same here.

Lenny 2005-07-08 10:47 AM

I'd end up pronouncing it 'dooce'...I'm kinda surprised that everyone but those who learn Latin doesn'ty pronounce it as 'dooce'.
