Finally got WoW

I GOT IT!

So wehre do I start? I apparently have a graphics card that isn't compatible... but... I put -opengl at the end of the target line (Grav's idea)... and now its working... but the Blizzard Downloader isn't working with Peer to Peer transferring, so its going slow as hell... I wonder if there is anyway to fix that? I turned off my firewall... but... it says I might ahve one active.

Next question... what Server you guys play on? I have a bunch of friends IRL that play Horde on Burning Legion, so I am going to do that unless convinced otherwise... I hope you guys do that too, by some crazy coincidence.

What character should I make!?!?!? I don't want to be an orc... I don't think...

kaos 2005-03-12 10:44 AM

Man...now I wanna start playing it...

NOT!

Acctually I do. :(

Vollstrecker 2005-03-12 11:02 AM

I think that most of the remaining Zel community is on Burning Legion.

I know we've got MJ, myself, Slim, Timmay, Zeal, Mightyjoe, Geekz, and likely someone I've forgotten.

(Tim, bring your Priest back to our Guild, damnit)

Penny_Bags 2005-03-12 11:15 AM

Pwnin shit!... but can anyone help me with my problem with the Blizzard loader? Do you think I have to get a new video card? I have one of the unsupported nVidia cards.

Vollstrecker 2005-03-12 01:58 PM

heh

You may need to. Knowing Blizzard's ability with compatible devices, incompatible means certain doom.

Sovereign 2005-03-12 02:59 PM

I use intel xtreme graphics 2. It's integrated into my laptop. This wasn't supported either though I'm still playing the game fine =D

!King_Amazon! 2005-03-12 03:01 PM

Blizzard downloader problem has to be a firewall or something. You might not have a firewall running on your computer, but if you use a router it probably has one built in that is messing it up. If you use a router, tell me what kind it is and I might be able to help you.

Vollstrecker 2005-03-12 05:22 PM

Just forward the necessary ports on your router, and you're fire. Mine works great after doing so.

!King_Amazon! 2005-03-12 07:31 PM

Easier said than done. It gets annoying forwarding ports for everything you play.

I just turned the firewall off in my router.

Kaneda 2005-03-12 07:44 PM

Hey, Um, my router fucks up my game playing experience too. Like when I make a game on diablo when using the router it disconnects me from b.net but I can continue playing in that game without any consequences, but as soon as I leave the game I have to re-log in. Anyone know why that might be?

D3V 2005-03-12 08:06 PM

Type in the exact file on google, and just download it from one of the links. That's what I had to do.

!King_Amazon! 2005-03-12 09:50 PM

What the hell are you talking about?

Penny_Bags 2005-03-13 04:56 PM

Yeah... I'm just starting, working fine I think... but what character should i make?

Hades-Knight 2005-03-13 05:12 PM

Whats ur video card? If i coudl run it on my TNT2 , any card will run that shit.

I got a Geforce 6600 on teh way ^^

ask_rabber 2005-03-13 05:29 PM

Make a f'n priest. Priests can group easily and solo easily if they're shadow. Not to mention, kick ass in pvp.

D3V 2005-03-13 07:59 PM

wow-1.2.3-enus.exe

Mages are also in fairly high demand endgame, if you don't like the Healing playstyle. Also, a good Warrior is a bit difficult to find.

!King_Amazon! 2005-03-13 09:46 PM

I've been playing a priest for 2 days now, lvl 16 and loving it.

Vollstrecker 2005-03-14 02:54 AM

I've got a 30 Priest that I like playing. Mind Control is just way too much fun.

slaynish 2005-03-14 02:47 PM

Yeah my priest is lvl 57.

I've got MC almost maxed out.

!King_Amazon! 2005-03-14 05:49 PM

Shut up, you don't even play slaynish.

Jesus Christ . . . Level 16 in two days???

!King_Amazon! 2005-03-14 05:58 PM

That's with playing pretty constantly and questing like mad. That really isn't that much I think.

I'm level 16 after around three weeks...

But I was gone for a week, and I only play maybe an hour a day.

!King_Amazon! 2005-03-14 06:15 PM

Then you're talking about 14 hours. I probably racked up more than that in my two days of playing. I'd get on and look at my play time but I'm taking a break today.

The Guild referred to me as a Bot for a while, as I was 30 in 3 or 4 days when I rerolled my Shaman.

WetWired 2005-03-15 06:25 AM

I don't get why you guys call it rerolling. The starting stats are fixed in this game.

Penny_Bags 2005-03-15 10:14 AM

Yeah.... I don't get it either.

Penny_Bags 2005-03-15 10:16 AM

I am level 11 undead Mage named "Contimus" on Burning Legion. I had to buy a new video card...

Damn scheduled maintance! I played last night from 7 PM to 3 AM... lol... GOD... that's gross. I wanna play more but the damn realms are being maintained!!

I might as well write my research paper.

Sovereign 2005-03-15 10:20 AM

My friend finally got wow, and registered his account. He became obsessed with it, and has skipped two days of school to play it :-\.

pr0xy 2005-03-15 11:08 AM

Its only about 4-5 hours to get to lvl 10 with priest.

!King_Amazon! 2005-03-15 03:39 PM

Obviously he calls it rerolling because everyone else does.

I really don't know why people call it that, and I've never referred to it like that. It's creating a new character.

Vollstrecker 2005-03-15 06:18 PM

Just habit from Paper AD&D days. When you died, you'd begin 're-rolling' a new character.

!King_Amazon! 2005-03-15 09:17 PM

Yes, well, I'm sure not everyone from WoW played AD&D.

I did myself and I've never used the term rerolling in my life except for in monopoly when one of the dice would fall off of the table or something.

WetWired 2005-03-16 06:54 AM

I understand that, but
  1. You didn't die
  2. The base stats in this game are fixed based off of race, class, and level; you don't roll them
  3. This isn't even a pen and paper RPG to confuse you

Randuin 2005-03-16 08:56 AM

I finally got tired of WoW

That's the same as comparing slang words to the proper use. Like saying something is 'cool' while it has nothing to do with its relative temperature.

WetWired 2005-03-16 02:02 PM

To the contrary, the use of the word cool as a contrast to feverish with rage is appropriate in the majority of the common applications of the slang term cool.

!King_Amazon! 2005-03-16 02:45 PM

Just give up Vollstrecker, there's no use arguing with WetWired. He thinks he's always right because he thinks he knows everything.

Yeah, that has nothing to do with what I'm saying.
