What kind of things did you name your characters?
 

For the characters I had respect for, I didn't change their names. But for pieces of crap characters like Quina, Cait Sith and that kind of crap, I tgave them names like Shithead, mommafuck and other stupid crap. Not inventive just disrespectful. Name your characters anything, funny or stupid?

I named Cloud "Dildo".

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Well, not really.

I named Aeris Dandruff.

"Cunt" is a much better name for her.

I always used the defaults.

Yeah, I use defaults as well.

I usually rename the coolest character with my name and all the other cool characters with friends names and leave the useless or dumb characters with what they got.

Try playing FF6 when you name everyone Kefka. ;)

Or even naming everyone the same in FF7.

I usually use default names the first time through, and then change them when I start a new game. But I ususally use names that I think fit the characters better. Usually people I know, though.

It actually pisses me off when there is no default character name in RPGs (excluding non-linear ones such as Morrowind and MMORPGs of course) because I believe the default names always fit the character best. Whether they are stupid or not (note: Butz), the game is the story of a character who is not the guy holding the controller.

Hm, I'll try it as soon as I get a new audio/video cord.

I didn't like how there was no default name for the main character in FF5. I named him "Bare," since that's what it says in the menu screen before you name him, but I later realized that was a job class and not a name, so I went through the game with a dude named "Bare."

Yeah, it does seem amusing.

Secret of mana is the only game I can think of that's single player, not a make your own character game, that doesn't have default names.

well, I usually name my characters like Kagom or of people I like or former FF characters.

And KA, I believe in the FF Anthology version of FF5 he had a default name and it was Bartz.

That's the one I'm talking about, and I don't remeber him having a default name. I'm probably wrong though.

Secret of Evermore is the same way. I'm sure there are more.

Also,
His default name in a translated version of the Japanese game is Butz.

Imagining Cloud as a dildo? *pictures it* Ouch. That would be rather painful.

But I only named him that because someone recommended it to me. I thought it was rather humorous.

I usually name my main character Dan and my brother names his main character Matt.My brother named Aeris bitch a few times that he went through the game because we both hate aeris.She tries to compete with tifa but tifa is way better in every way.

Err, Aeris doesn't try to compete with Tifa. In fact, I always got the impression that Aeris was a little Bi.

Anyway, the only characters who's names I won't change are the characters who I think actually have good names.

ie:
Terra
Celes
Quistis
Vincent

I think quistis is a weird name but those other 3 are good names in my oppinion.

In FF9, I renamed Dagger to Senesia instead.

I name all the Cids "Cupfucker" because I laugh every time they say something.

Most of the time I played through FFVII, I named them from characters from FF Tactics. Tifa = Ovelia = SHUDDER


I left FFVIII default names on, I was too bored to think of one. Besides, the only characters you could get to name there are Squall, Rinoa, and Rinoa's faithful mutt, Angelo. What's so good in getting to name ONLY 3 CHARACTERS?!

FFIX, I named them nonsensical names and the 2nd time I played through it, I retained their default names.

Tidus = A wuss name. The guy complains too much, anyway.

Actually, you can name everyone. Just depends on the order you do things.

Well, it should ask you to name Zell and Quistis the first time you see them. (It did for me)

Selphie's the only hard one to rename. You have to take her on the garden tour and stop at certain places. Damned if I can remember which ones, though.
