Stopping thread digging

Isn't there some way somebody could set up a device or something that automatically closes a thread if it hasn't been posted in in over a month in a half or whatever?

This might mess up stickied threads though.

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-27 06:58 PM

I've suggested it before, I think they just don't feel like doing it.

Kuja`s #1 2003-09-27 07:00 PM

If they did, I wouldn't do it. I just have seen it all oer lately. But there was a thread somewhere about it. Maybe in the Flame Forum. Anyway, they shoud get of their...... They should hurry up and do it.

RoboticSilence 2003-09-27 07:05 PM

It's funny you should say this because you recently dug up a two month old thread yourself.

Senesia 2003-09-27 07:10 PM

Thing is, it is arguably acceptable if someone digs up a thread and posts something relevant to the topic.

There is no need to close thread when threads die on its own...and most threads can be left open for further discussion (if any). I can understand if new members dig up old threads and spam in them, but you...Kuja#1...Moderator...

RoboticSilence 2003-09-27 07:14 PM

Yes, something sparked a recent thread dig splurge and it has really gotten out of hand. It's really very shameful for a moderator to just dig up a thread and post something that isn't even relevant anymore.

uncapped 2003-09-27 07:18 PM

He dug up more than one thread...

Kuja`s #1 2003-09-27 07:18 PM

:shame: I will no commit sapuku(I don't remember how to spell it)

Seriously I won't do it again.

RoboticSilence 2003-09-27 07:19 PM

Seppuku... and that doesn't seem like a bad idea, you stab youself in the stomach and then sit there until you die.

Kuja`s #1 2003-09-27 07:21 PM

It is the honorable path.

Sovereign 2003-09-27 07:24 PM

TAKE THAT PATH RIGHT NOW! And before you die post pics :D

RoboticSilence 2003-09-27 07:24 PM

Samurai only commit seppuku if they have failed. And the dishonorable thing to do is have a fellow samurai chop off your head to end your pain. Seppuku is the most painful way to die.

Sovereign 2003-09-27 07:28 PM

I thought the samurai impail themselves with there swords to do this. Is it really that painful?

Kuja`s #1 2003-09-27 07:30 PM

Let's have someone put a Katana through your chest or whatever and see if it hurts.

Adrenachrome 2003-09-27 07:31 PM

I doubt it is the most painful..

Sovereign 2003-09-27 07:31 PM

If they aim it correctly and sever my aorta i should be dead within seconds. Only a complete pussy samurai wouldnt be able to take a few seconds of pain for his emperor!

Kuja`s #1 2003-09-27 07:33 PM

sappuku is suicide dumb ass.

Sovereign 2003-09-27 07:35 PM

You said to have someone put a katana through my chest. You implied that another person do it. So it wouldnt be considered sappuku unless i inflicted it on myself. WHich i would hit the aorta if i was crazy enough to do it.

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-27 07:37 PM

Good job totally throwing this thread off topic 30 minutes after it was made.

Kuja`s #1 2003-09-27 07:38 PM

Its either do it yourself or someone will assist you.

Well, I don't think anyone was gonna say anything else.

Sovereign 2003-09-27 07:38 PM

I try my hardest just for you my special spoony bard :)

Kuja 2003-09-27 07:39 PM

Serious cant you think for yourself for whats right and wrong ?
I mean how many time did i break rules ? And zelaron is the first forum i ever joined. I didnt need to read rules.

How many rule you broken so far since you joined zelaron ?
Not to mention each you broke were not only once.
You would do it over and over.

Im sure no 1 stupid enought to not be able to make the diff. whit what is against the rule and stupid to what is actualy right or acceptable.

And about preventing digging.

Maybe i should of said what rule you actualy didnt break on many occasion...

Sovereign 2003-09-27 07:42 PM

Or heres another idea! Get the mods to have a new part of there job. They must remove or close all threads that are more then a certain period of mos old.

Kuja get back on aim or something

uncapped 2003-09-28 11:23 AM

No. Thread digging can be silly.

WetWired 2003-09-29 11:40 AM

This is on my list of vB3 hacks to be made. Not exactly lock them, but make them unrepliable.

Chruser 2003-09-29 02:31 PM

Yeah, a proper version of the vB3 beta should be out soon so we can switch... Yay.

LiveWire 2003-09-29 03:07 PM

theres a hack out now i belive for vb2 which after a speicifed amount of days a thread is not been posted it automaticly locks them.

J_iceman 2003-09-29 03:36 PM

FINALLY!! a software to close all old ones :-P so whats the deal......will it be into effect next week, month, year??

Titusfied 2003-09-29 03:42 PM

When vB3 comes, which shouldn't be too much longer, hopefully. :)

WetWired 2003-09-29 04:05 PM

vB3 comes to Zelaron as soon as we finish Synthesis for vB3 and a few critical hacks. We believe we're ready to start work on that now, and by the time we finish, we expect vB3RC1.

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-29 04:31 PM

ETA?

WetWired 2003-09-29 04:33 PM

ETA
Sooner than later? It takes however long it takes. Almost certainly before Christmas, likely under a month.

Titusfied 2003-09-29 08:33 PM

Wow, you gotta love the run around with answers. It'll be here when its here!

Word.

WetWired 2003-09-30 12:37 PM

Hey, I said likely less than a month. I honestly don't know how long it will take. Not only is the style system completely different, but the feature set neccesitates rework of parts of the style. Also the code is completely rewritten for vB3 so I don't know my way arround it. It is far too early to give any sort of accurate estimate on how long it will be. I did indicate that we are no longer waiting on Jelsoft and that the delay is due to work we are doing ourselves.

LiveWire 2003-09-30 12:42 PM

The new vb3 system is weird as hell, i got lost complely. But hey www.vbulletintemplates.com has alot of mods released for things im sure you'll need. should make it eaiser.

o_0 maybe for the admin; for the user, it just looks like vB2 with a ton of cool new features.

Sweetness.

Thats what i meant :haha: Im a license owner and the features are sweet for an admin.. I think one of there best features is that you can now control what other admins are able to touch and do. Even though theres a hack for vb2, this is just more advance. Plus is WAY faster now, so it seems. Do they use Dhtml in it or xml?

WetWired 2003-10-01 09:58 AM

vB3 will be great for the clan hosted forums. No more dealing with adding and removing access. The forum owner will be able to do it themselves.

LiveWire 2003-10-02 06:42 AM

Hell i didnt even see that lol
