Age Restrictions

Hey, how do you guys feel about ESRB and age restriction on games? Also how do you guys feel about internet (in general)age restriction so kids can't get on?

Silverjinx18 2003-09-20 10:06 AM

I'm all for age restriction on things like movies and games...some kids are more mature then others, but it's the others you have to worry about...kids get ideas playing games(though some don't)but again you have to worry about ppl who will do stupid things.

zagggon 2003-09-20 10:10 AM

no kids on the web? oh fuck that to hell

Kuja`s #1 2003-09-20 10:17 AM

Adults shouldn't be allowed to post here. Jinx, your post clearly says "well they can't get games and watch certain movies" Your all the same.

Penny_Bags 2003-09-20 12:08 PM

Kuja's 1 dont be dumb. Her post isn't biased, it is using reason. Your post is saying clearly "they shouldn't be allowed to post here."

Sit down, shut up! ::clap, clap clap-clap-clap::

Demosthenes 2003-09-20 01:15 PM

ehh...movies yes...movies the rating system is good.

but i dont like game ratings...there is no way some of the games rated M should be imo.

slaynish 2003-09-20 01:20 PM

ehh i think the movie ratings are ohh k only for movies like house of a thousand corpses, if a 9 year old were to see that he/she would fucking have nightmares for LIFE and i can just rent it, but rated r is gay, all it shows is a little nudity and a little violence, listen, a kid knows that if he goes to see a freddyv jason he should know about the damn movie in the first place, My friend has 2 parents that keep him constricted, no rated r movies, and NO rated m games... Damn he hates it!!! And i dont like the fact you have to be 18 to buy rated r movies, i mean i understand pornos and shit but... I just wana fuckin buy some tickets to the underworld with some chicks damn man why do i have to ask my brother or mom for that? Jease.

Pennywise 2003-09-20 02:22 PM

well i dont' like too much the ratings of games and movies i think that if a kid wants to watch a movie and this movie is rated for mature audiences my opinion is to take the child to watch that movie with his parents and they can explain the kid the situation and stuff
and about the games i think is a non-sense to classify games for ages i don't see what is the big deal if a kid wants to play for instance silent hill or resident evil i mean they worry about what are their kids plying when on tv there are more violence

-=Rico-GP=- 2003-09-20 10:23 PM

I'm only 14 and i go to see R rated movies... I play games with an M rating. I don't see whats the problem... Those things don't reflect on me at all... I saw freddy Vs. Jason and i thought it was hilarious! Some things just don't effect me as much as they used to. When i was about 9 or 10 years old i saw Starship Troopers and that scared the shit out of me. When i was 5 i used to watch all these vampire movies and that really scared me. Every night i used to cover up my neck with a blanket so that the vampires couldn't get me. But i grew out of it. I guess some people are more mature than others when it comes to these things. Almost all of my friends are 2-3 years older than me, and they act like im the same age as them.

Adrenachrome 2003-09-20 10:28 PM

Young minds are 'impressionable'

Which means, wether you know it or not the said games and movies do have an effect on you, you just don't see why yet.

-=Rico-GP=- 2003-09-20 10:31 PM

So that means that its going to effect me one day? I'm just going to get up one morning and decide to shoot someone in the face? Or stab my mother in the back because i play M rated games? Or watch R movies?

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-20 10:32 PM

I don't think it's right to make kids thing sex and nudity and shit like that are bad.

-=Rico-GP=- 2003-09-20 10:33 PM

Such as pornography?

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-20 10:43 PM

Doesn't matter, if you're making a kid thing sex is bad then you're fucking with their future.

-=Rico-GP=- 2003-09-20 10:46 PM

Alright... Good statement. I agree fully

RoboticSilence 2003-09-20 10:47 PM

The current thing with movies is the same as how it is with games. It says you must be 18 to see an R-rated movie, but kids get in. Same with M rating on games. Quit whining you asshole politians, it's just as shitty with movies as with games. If you want the problem solved then... too bad, it's not happening.

I don't think it will affect kids like that...
But it will make them think that it is more acceptable to act a certain way.

Intelligence is a factor in this I'm sure, I think the ones who have/will be affected by movies or games are the ones on the shortbus.

Demosthenes 2003-09-20 10:50 PM

i agree with what adrena said to a certain extent...to which...yes young minds can be impressionable...but not everyone is gonna be like that. I still stand by the ratings though because all they mean is that u should go c it with an adult...it doesn't restrict u from seeing it really so i dont c why eveery1 complains so much. Newayz most ppl just sneak in newayz.

Don't make fun, do you think that the kids on the shortbus can actually get their hands on guns?

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-20 10:55 PM

I don't think it's right to make kids think violence is good, I don't think it's right to make kids think sex is bad.

D3V 2003-09-20 11:00 PM

I don't think it's right to make kids, we have too many of them as it is, At the rate we are going now there will be no more places to live by 2012.

Demosthenes 2003-09-20 11:05 PM

hopefully population isn't groing that fast...lol

-=Rico-GP=- 2003-09-20 11:47 PM

slaynish 2003-09-21 08:34 AM

Actually i think that pornography should have the same age restrictions, but i think that it isnt that bad, i mean if a adult buys the ticket for the kids they can go see it right? But damnit i wanted to see that movie DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT!! BLER! lol

Exactly. The human mind is enviromental-response oriented. When someone sees something happening, it affects them. It changes the way they think and/or act. There is no telling how much it will affect them.

When you REALLY stop to think about it, it is quite fucked up that kids want to play games where they mutilate things all the time. I hear countless numbers of kids 13 or so and under that say things like, "Mario is a game for fucking pussies!" or "Why the fuck are you playing that 'gay' game? There's no action!!!!" It is quite disturbing. Many Nintendo games are what some kids call gay, while in actuallity they are some of the funnest and most in depth games ever. Think Animal Crossing, think Mario. Those are really f'in fun games.

slaynish 2003-09-21 10:22 AM

Yeah dude, i will always be a fan of nintendo and mario and stuff like that *slips on his red nintendo hoodie* ^_^

Kids having sex most certainly is bad, having a child when your not financially stable is a horrible thing to do to the child, so inferring that sex is bad to kids is a good thing, by the time they are able to take on the responsibilities they will know it is not a bad thing.

Oreo 2003-09-22 06:31 PM

It's society, they feel they need to try and restrict kids some how, i work at gamestop, and have had at least 50 parents with their kids in there, and their parents won't let them get certain rating games, depending on age, so they do care about it. I think that little kids should be restricted, but anybody over 14, they're all already smoking, drinking, having sex, (well, a general idea)

We should inform kids about sex instead of telling them it's bad. We should let them know what could happen and what they should do to protect themselves.
