You can affiliate people, but you'll get turns to research/build/attack with rather than getting a bunch of reinforcements at once. It's a great game though. :)

You cant ever connect -- the server is way too flooded.

You can always connect after 3pm, its just hard before then but it's possible, I do it every morning. (When I wake up around 10am.)
