X box or Game Cube?
For X-mas my mom gave me the choice of Xbox or game Cube. Which one should I get? I really cant decide. I like xbox and game cube
|
I own everything out curently. Between these two, I'd have to go with a Gamecube.
X-Box has a definate advantage with online games, but I play my online games on my PC, PC's definately rule the online department. Sure, X-Box is the most powerful system, and yes it has Halo, but ok, what else? The other few games I own for it, are either out, or coming out, to the Gamecube. Cube however, has for it that is NOT coming out to X-Box (or PS2) Eternal Darkness Metroid Prime Zelda (in February) Mario Rogue Leader (old game, still good) Bounty Hunter (don't think it's going to X-Box) -Bounty Hunter I have't quite picked up yet either X-Box does have it's share, such as Panzer Dragon, Mechassault, and Steel Batillion for example, but overall there is more for GC that I personaly want. That and X-Box is DRY for RPG games, and I love RPG's. I personally would get the Cube if I had to choose, but I do like having both. I don't think X-Box will truly shine until next holiday season when live is up and running, and they can get more games out for it. (Steel Batillion II) |
I've heard somewhere that they are planning to drop GC to $150 Canadian for Christmas, not sure if its true though.

goto IGN.com and look at there game list and then there release date list and add up the number of games you find yourself interested in. After that make your decision off of the conclusion of that.. Well thats what I suggest ne wayz.
|
xbox has 2 free games right now, so go for the box ;)
i think that only lasts until christmas though, but you can get it off www.amazon.com with the 2 free games. |
Rabber, are you mental? Aragorn, do not buy an XBox. Gamecube has a better selection of games, and while XBox may technically be more powerful, it runs like crap. Go with GCN.
|
Get a dreamcast! Burn your games!
|
Right now xbox has a deal at best buy near where Im at, buy the 2 game xbox bundle and get third game free... 1 xbox 1 controller and 3 games new for $199
|

X-Box has one major advantage over GC besides the online factor, its called dvd player and it can save songs onto the built in hardisk which IMO is godly but i havent played the gamecube so i dont know.

which in my view makes for a very biased opinion which upon them playing a great game on another console they would shortfall it and not give it a very worthy rating. |
I have played all 3 and I didn't like Gamecube so much that I didn't even buy it...lol

Id have to vote Xbox myself considering its made by a computer company and who knows whats gonna be implamented in it in the future maybe a moniter or keyboard like the ps1, Xbox unlike gamecube has infinite possibilitys, gamecube on the other hand has limited upgrades if any and itll prolly turn out just like dreamcast did, a big purple flop.

December 20, 2002 - Xbox executives can pop a bottle of champagne. Apparently, people are diggin' the Xbox. The proof doesn't come from some over-enthusiastic PR spin or anyone's personal numbers. All you need do is take a look at the numbers and you'll see that Xbox is in the midst of crushing the GameCube.
According to the NPD Group, one of the most respected market research firms in the industry, November marked the seventh consecutive month Xbox outsold GameCube in terms of hardware and has outsold GameCube in software in all thirteen months of its existence. Selling nearly 500,000 consoles in November, Xbox nearly doubled its sales numbers from October. Xbox consoles have edged GameCube by 20% in total sales, a considerable gap, especially when you look at the great first-party titles Nintendo has managed to release this year. In November, Xbox saw it's second best month of software sales to date, with 2.4 million units selling. That's 10% more than the GameCube, but still far below the might of PS2. In terms of GameCube versus Xbox, though, Microsoft's console has sold 34% more software overall than GameCube. The Xbox also maintains the highest attach rate to date for a console that's thirteen months old, with 4.7 games per unit sold. Further proof of Microsoft's growing dominance over GameCube comes when comparing the two bundle offers. Microsoft's Xbox bundle that comes with Sega GT 2002 and Jet Set Radio Future has outsold the GameCube Mario bundle by 335,000 units or 131%. However, it should be noted that the GameCube bundle is not nearly as widely available, which could contribute to the wide gap. The GameCube is often saddled with piss-poor ports of multi-platform games and it shows in terms of sales. The Xbox has managed 58% greater third-party sales than GameCube according to Microsoft. Though Microsoft has yet to come close to the PS2 in terms of installed base, the big MS can take comfort in knowing their online programs has bested PS2 from the get-go. Comparing their first month of sales, Xbox Live outsold PS2 Network Adapters by 14% and the three major Live titles (Ghost Recon, MechAssault, and Unreal Championship) sold over 300,000 copies combined in just the last half of November and managed an astounding attach rate of 80%. With far bigger titles on the horizon for Microsoft next year and very few big franchises left in Nintendo's bag for 2003, it could be an even merrier X-Mas for Microsoft a year from now. Of course, we'll be back to let you know how this little ol' console war is turning out. |
Hmm, all other reports I have read show otherwise..

I noted it said some of the info was from Microsoft. You'll note Microsoft *LIED* on various spec and stat sheets, boosting the xbox's stats to what it really wasnt, or using false values that were raw renderings not full ones. And infact they put N/A for almost a majority of GCN's stats.
That there tells ya somethin. I personally dislike microsoft, no matter what they do. They fight in the market with money and lower quality hardware/software. And only survive because of their aggressive business tactics. It's just evil. |
Check this link out I read it on the xbox site and found it really immature, especially from such a large corporation...

From Planet Xbox a.k.a. Gamespy
Xbox Owned November Thursday, December 19, 14:27 | Talon | November, no matter what console videogame fans might own, was a huge month. With the release of amazing titles such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Splinter Cell and Metroid Prime, it was one that more than a few will remember. Today, Microsoft announced that it wasnt just big on the games side of things, as Xbox enjoyed its finest month for hardware during November according to NPD. Partly fueled by the launch of Xbox Live, Xbox was able to outsell competitor GameCube for the seventh month in a row with the Xbox Holiday bundle (Xbox, Sega GT 2002 and Jet Set Radio Future) outselling GameCube and the Super Mario Sunshine bundle by 131 percent. Moreover, Microsoft reports that Xbox sold 34 percent more titles than GameCube since release, with titles such as Splinter Cell, a game with a quarter of a million units sold worldwide, leading the way. The system comparison continued as Microsoft added that Xbox Live was able to sell 86 percent higher than the PlayStation 2 Network Adapters. This comes on top of sales of Xbox Live titles such as MechAssault, Tom Clancys Ghost Recon and Unreal Championship selling in excess of 300,00 units in North America during November. The aforementioned Xbox Live titles attached at over 80 percent to the Xbox Live Starter Kit. Stepping away from North America, Microsoft reported a few noteworthy details on other regions of the world. For starters, Microsoft continues, Xbox is the second top selling console in Europe according to ChartTrack and GFK; with the system outselling GameCube by two to one. In Australia Microsoft reports that Xbox and PlayStation 2s market gap is only 4 percent, with the Xbox market share doubling to 46 percent over the past eight weeks. In Asia Microsoft reported that the Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan went well; with over 5,000 people lined up during the systems launch. Lastly, in Mexico, Microsoft reported that the October launch went well. According to the report issued today, the system is the most widely available next-generation console in the country. |
If Xbox wasn't backed up by such a rich company as Microsoft, it would have already crashed and burned.
