Ba, ha ha ha ha!

Chruser 2008-11-15 09:35 PM

The Zelaron folders are being unusually lazy, it would seem.

Out of interest, I may install Ubuntu on my Xbox 360 to see what it can accomplish in Folding@home. Its CPU won't be able to match the performance of the PS3 Cell processor, but its Xenos GPU is more powerful than its PS3 counterpart. However, I do suspect that such an endeavor will become more of a RRoD@home experience than anything.

Chruser 2008-11-16 10:19 AM

Also, I tried to run the fah client on my DS Lite, although the requirement for "flat" files resulted in problems:

BINFMT_FLAT: bad magic/rev (0x1010100, need 0x4)
BINFMT_FLAT: bad magic/rev (0x1010100, need 0x4)
fah6: applet not found

Essentially, I would have to compile fah it as a "flat" executable via ELF or COFF, but unfortunately, the source code for fah isn't publicly available. Anyway, I'll investigate it more when I get back home.

That fluctuates too much based on how many new teams there are. If no new teams are created and we gain 600 places, it will make us look just as successful as if we've lost 200 places on the lead while 800 new (potentially inactive) teams have been created.

Asamin 2008-11-25 04:04 AM

Almost done my first experiment. 250K steps. Sheesh! Wallow's was only 1.5K!

yay i got it to work

Asamin 2008-11-25 08:07 PM

Both mine have been 250K steps :(

I'm on a 500 step fold, yet it's taking longer than the 1500 step I finished yesterday.

I screwed with their output to make it work to my advantage. These are not edited pictures, these are directly from Folding@home.

Chruser 2008-11-27 05:33 AM

In case you're wondering what the properties of the protein that you're folding are (and how many credits you'll get for completing the work unit), you can find a complete list of all proteins and work units here:

http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html

Furthermore, it's great to see that there are quite a few new folders on the Zelaron team now. Keep it up!

At this rate, Asamin will have you beat by approximately now.

jamer123 2008-11-27 06:39 AM

dang i got a 2000 step flod worth 180 points

Asamin 2008-11-27 08:01 AM

How will I have him beat? I don't think I am doing nething he is not. But I am keeping my comp on all the time and my mac seems to be doing them faster then Wallow's comp.

Not really. Remember you kept your computer on more than I did before our break started.

Asamin 2008-11-27 09:02 AM

Yea but mine are 250K steps long. and completing in <= amount of yime yours are.

Ummmm let's see. I will catch up to you if I keep going as fast as I am in about 4 days. So. yes, I can out power that! With one mac!

That has nothing to do with it. You're not using the same program format as I am, and you get what you get --> Your computer doesn't choose larger step folds or smaller step folds. Also, your Mac has less Ram and memory than my HP does. Sorry, but the facts don't add up to your conclusion.

Don't Screw with me. You'll be knocked off your high-horse in the next few days as I earn tons of points. Just keep watching people. Especially pay attention to the number of CPUs being used.

EDIT: Macs Suck!

Asamin 2008-11-28 09:46 AM

Lets see you get that number of points with one cpu! I have only one!!!!!! What now!

: ) It is only one CPU. I only have one computer Folding. Don't Screw with Windows/Linux, and the AMD Quad Core.

How did I do it?

Wow, I've had my computer on for more than 72 hours, and I'm still on the same fold that is at 305/500 right now. I hope it gets me a lot of points, because I don't know why it's taking so long.

Asamin 2008-11-29 01:43 PM

Lol, I forgot the power cable to my comp at home so my fold that was 96% complete is just getting to finish now.

Yeah, that was due to some setup problems initially. I've fixed it where all of my future points will show under KingAmazon. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way for me to combine the existing points.
