Verizon, VX8300

Friend of mine works for Apple, got the iPhone free

Willkillforfood 2007-08-25 10:29 PM

They're nice, but their screens would probably become a smudy mess pretty quickly. Plus they don't have a real keyboard.

Vault Dweller 2007-08-29 01:32 AM

They are pretty cool, but like Lenny, I don't want to deal with the first gen bugs or the absoludicrous price. I do wonder about the effects of long-term screen touching also.

I have a Kyocera flip phone that I got free from Verizon. It's a piece of crap, but I really don't want to browse the internet or look at pictures or listen to music on my phone. It's a fucking phone. And my battery lasts about 5 days.

Raziel 2007-08-30 11:49 AM

I'm not actually sure that the 50-dollar-a-month hunk of plastic I attempt to use as a phone is, in reality, a fucking phone. I think it used to be a phone, but has since transformed into something far less useful.

HandOfHeaven 2007-08-30 11:49 AM

Too much abuse?

Raziel 2007-08-30 11:50 AM

I love with my fists.

HandOfHeaven 2007-08-30 11:52 AM

Mine splits off into two parts, but not like a transformer. One chuck too many.

klo 2007-08-31 08:19 AM

my fing phones buttons weren't working so i brought it back and the mofos gave me some piece of shit to use as a "loaner" phone while they get me a new one. is some "nokia" thing. UGH, i was like "why don't you give me YOUR sidekick and you use the loaner piece of shit" then he looked at me funny and we left. bad day that was.

HandOfHeaven 2007-08-31 11:25 AM

I kind of want to get a Helio Ocean.

HandOfHeaven 2007-08-31 09:31 PM

I hate my phone because the alarm on it sucks and it is beat up.

D3V 2007-09-28 12:24 PM

I'm so close to getting a new phone, getting tired of this "Nokia 6133" The screen is cracked ( not it's fault ) but the picture quality has dropped 10 folds, the speaker hardly works I HAVE to use speakerphone just to hear whoever i'm talking to, and signal randomly disappears wherever I go. And the powerbutton doesn't work anymore. And this phone is only 6 months old and I hardly ever use it

:mad::mad:

HandOfHeaven 2007-09-28 01:12 PM

Is that one of those shitty Nokia phones from 1940? My girl spilled a drink on her old phone and has to use this humongous nokia phone for now, which has a large crack right over the screen, and the buttons come off. Ha.

D3V 2007-09-28 01:32 PM

Nah it's a newer flip-phone, it was very sweet when I got it, but the quality of the phone diminished almost instantly after taking it out of the package and using it for a while. I've never really had a problem with cellies before :(

HandOfHeaven 2007-09-28 01:42 PM

I'm due for a new one next month. My flip phone has survived quite a few wall hits, drops, burns, and even an immersion in water. It's scraped and a little bit of the paint up front is chipped off, but the phone is still as functional as it was ~2 years ago.

Vault Dweller 2007-09-30 08:28 PM

I got a letter from my local Verizon store the other day. They claim that I'm "eligible" for a new phone so long as I upgrade my plan to include another line.

Another line? I'm sure they have my age and marital status and, hell, my phone records on file, for that matter. They should realize that I have no interest whatsoever in another line, unless they think I'm interested in texting on one phone while talking to someone on the other. No thanks, Verizon. No thanks.

The kicker is the fact that another local Verizon store sent me a nearly identical letter two days later. Goddamnit! Do your research, leave me alone and stop wasting paper!

I'm done now.

Draco2003 2008-10-16 10:34 PM

Well, I just signed up with Verizon after a few years with a prepaid Boost...

I love my new phone! Looks like the new Camaro, or to me at least.

Tuttifrutti 2008-10-17 06:36 AM

Lol Draco, nice bumping. Anyways, I have a stupid Samsung Hue, as does Kaz, from Alltel. I wish I could get my fucking upgrade or at least afford a new phone because I really want one with a full qwerty keyboard, like the LG Scoop :(

Grav 2008-10-17 11:40 AM

I have an LG Chocolate. Don't get one.

Willkillforfood 2008-10-17 11:45 AM

Really really old samsung flip phone. They definitely don't make these anymore. I'm going to get a new one, but I honestly don't like a lot of the new ones. They break easy and are battery hogs.

Same here... I had the older version that was green, now I have the newer version which is black. And they both suck balls.

Good thing I get a free upgrade soon.

D3V 2008-10-20 08:07 AM

Well, I broke my phone over the weekend in Orlando. Great.

Now it's time to get a new phone. I'm thinking the new G1 (tmobile's iPhone ..essentially). We'll see :(

What's so bad about the LG Chocolate?

I'm just trying to figure out what will be a good phone to get next upgrade (Not until February) but doesn't hurt to start looking into it lol. I love my current LG phone and I found them to be pretty reliable, so enlighten me about the probs of the Chocolate.

Telus is usually a little behind on phones lol, but if I resign with them, I can keep my dirt cheap plan.

-Spector- 2008-10-20 09:22 AM

No more L6 since it jumped into the cup of orange juice.

Now I use my mom's old Blackberry.

HandOfHeaven 2008-10-20 09:46 AM

I have the Alltel Hue by Samsung. It's a standard flip phone, plays music and allows me to call and text.

1. Incredibly short battery life.
2. Touchpad becomes really hard to use after a year or so.
3. Screen gets damaged easily.
4. It's supposed to be a music phone, but the music options suck.

Don't get one.

Lenny 2008-12-30 12:20 PM

Well, my K800i died at the start of November, to my disappointment.

From that, I went to a Samsung B130 - screen the size of a postage stamp, horrible clicky buttons... basically the cheapest bit of plastic a tenner could buy me. After about a month of using it, I gave up - the microphone is so useless that it's quicker to walk to wherever the person on the other end is calling from and shout down their ear than try and get them to understand what I'm trying to say through the phone.

http://www.gsmhelpdesk.nl/toestellen/Samsung-B130.jpg

Today I ordered a new phone, and my first contract deal (through the power of the intarwebs, I've managed to get £8 a month knocked off, which translates into a saving of about £124. The contract in total is around £315, which I find amazing - to get the same perks on Pay As You Go would mean a £30 top-up each month, plus the cost of the phone: a whopping £745!). Again I'm with Orange (they're the only provider with whom I have signal at home and at Uni). The phone:

Sony Ericsson C902

Here's the old K800i:

http://regmedia.co.uk/2006/08/03/se_k800i_1.jpg

I'm going to miss the joystick, but I'm incredibly happy that I've got the C902. :D I've even been able to persuade my parents to pay for the first twelve months of the contract, and put a tenner towards the remaining six months. Silver tongue for the win!

-Spector- 2008-12-30 02:16 PM

I purchased a used L7 SLVR off of Ebay a couple weeks ago. It was only 25 dollars as opposed to $150+! It works pretty well, only missing a button, but I have an extra I can replace it with, and it works fine without it.

D3V 2008-12-30 04:02 PM

Dude, that's a damn good deal, forrrr real. I'm looking for my old phone I broke like two months ago (been using brothers oldddd ass phone). Meh.

Draco2003 2008-12-30 11:44 PM

Just wanted to add some cool info about my phone... remember when I said it looked like the Camaro? Well I recently found out that it talks to me too now... it's totally awesome! When I put it on charge it tells me, "Battery is charging" in a female robot type voice...

It's like my own little Knight Rider... when it was a GM, not the shitty Ford Cobra KR500 or whatever it is now...

Also, I am wishing I had gotten one with a qwerty keyboard, because I didn't think I would be "TXT"ing that much, but it is much easier to talk to my sister in KY rather than those long pauses if I were to call her...

-Spector- 2008-12-31 08:47 AM

A car looking phone that talks to you? What the fuck?

D3V 2009-01-13 02:49 PM

I need help deciding on my next phone.

I'm really just wanting to snub something off of Ebay or Craigslist for around 100-200 bucks. Prefferably a Blackberry type phone that is used. (I Know it may be hard to find), or even a Gphone (android G1) through T-mobile. There's so much garbage out there, I may just end up going back and getting another Sidekick, .. but I really would rather have something a bit more normal.

Lenny 2009-07-24 03:38 PM

Still got my Sony Ericsson C902, but I'm looking to upgrade it to this:

http://www.yugatech.com/blog/wp-cont...6/htc-hero.jpg

It's the HTC Hero - the latest Android phone from HTC. It's not a "with Google" phone, so I'll have to manually update Android (I don't know how well it will work, seeing as the UI - HTC Sense - is built on top of Android. There'll probably be a few breakages with each new firmware, so I think if I do get one I'll wait for the bugs to be ironed out for each update), but that doesn't bother me.

The model I'd get (from Orange) is Graphite coloured:

http://www.softsailor.com/wp-content...o-Graphite.jpg

I'll have to work a bit longer still - the upgrade will cost me £100 for the handset, and however much to change my contract (an extra £15 a month for another 12 months maybe), I think.

!King_Amazon! 2009-07-24 08:29 PM

I've got a Motorola Q.

Asamin 2009-07-24 08:36 PM

I have the all new non-phone. It doesn't actually exist but it has all the abilities of a regular phone without the annoying pocket space taken up and it has a a lifetime Guarantee not to break ever!

Grav 2009-07-24 09:03 PM

This was a skittles-like post

Asamin 2009-07-24 09:57 PM

:P I felt slightly humorous.

Lenny 2009-07-26 02:25 PM

You poor sod. :(

---

The Orange UK site tells me that the HTC Hero is available on my current contract, with £166 for the handset. Seeing as I won't need to change contract, I'm even more tempted by it now! I'm working again this Summer, and I've not got much to buy, so £166 for the phone is no biggy. And maybe £30 for a Class 6 16gb microSD card (apparently it's slight lag problems can be minimised massively with a good microSD card, as the phone stores a swapfile on the memory card. Thus, the faster and bigger the card, the faster the phone).

D3V 2009-07-27 06:22 AM

After having a few prepaid phone temp after busting my other phone I'm settled right now with another Sidekick (ID). It's another temp phone, but i'll probably only have it for another month or so.

Lenny 2009-08-21 04:28 PM

Ended up having to order the HTC Hero with a new contract. Luckily, my sister wanted a contract, and she really liked the Nokia 5800 I won from Pepsi, so she got the second one of those and I got the HTC Hero.

Absolutely amazing phone! The physical design is incredible, the UI is sleek, and I'm in love with Android. :D
