i hate the lakers. i think Jazz have a chance, but they like to foul... if they still had jeff hornecek, i think that's how you spell it. but stockten, hornecek, and russel were all very good outside shooters, with ostertag and malone as alright centers... i think they would have a decent chance only if they stop foulin... and of course someone kick kobe in the nuts

people keep remembering how the lakers beat the spurs 4-0 in last years playoffs, but they forget to remember the 4-0 sweep by the spurs when the spurs won it all. Far as i'm concerned, they each have 1 sweep each. It'll be fun to watch this year.

Spurs is not bad, but if it compares to Mavericks, it is nothin'. Mavericks have all 3 pointer shooter ( N. Van Exel , T. Nowisiki, LeFrentz, M. Finley, even the Center Z. Wang )..see, Spurs, Duncan can't shoot three ( but he is still a very good Foward/Centre) I am not been offensive or anything, I just think that Mavericks have more chances then Spurs!

I cant believe you guys think the Mavs are better than the Spurs. Mavs are too offensive minded and throw up too many 3pointers and dont get to the foul line much. In the playoffs, it's all about the half court game which the spurs are much better suited for with duncan and robinson. Playing the ball on the blocks more also leads to more free throws which is another important aspect of playoff basketball. The Spurs ranked #3 in the league in free throw attempts per game. The Mavs also do not play defense as well as the Spurs although the Mavs did have some good moments on defense in their sweep of the T-wolves.

The stat that tells it all, the Spurs took the season series from the Mavs 3-1.

That is very shallow, think about it, defence is to prevent other team not to score, but even you defence good, they still will have fast-break point. On the other hand, offensive is to make sure you CAN score not matter how good or how bad the other team's defence is. Also, who gives a crap about regular season record, that won't matter!

well history shows that it's good defense that wins championships. For teams with good defense, they generate their offense through their defense. The spurs for example play good defense, force the other teams to miss their shots and run with the rebound.
If you force your opponents into a half court game, the fast break points will be limited. That's the whole point of playoff basketball. To limit fast break points, to use up most of the 24 second clock before shooting with your half court offense and make sure you play defense. Playoff games usually comes down to the wire, so defense is more important in the playoffs than offense. You have to be able to stop your opponents from scoring in the last minutes of the games and if the other team cant score because of your defense and they dont have good defense to prevent you from scoring then you win.
