I still don't understand why anyone would fucking live in Florida near the coast. Or any of the southeastern seaboard for that matter.

Taiwan just had a typhoon.

It's a very nice place to live the other 9 months of the year, but the 3 filled with Hurricanes are pretty shitty. You can say that about anyone that lives in an area prone to Earthquakes, or anyone that lives in Tornado Alley,... It may not make sense to you, but the locals have probably gotten used to it, I know I have. Shit I wouldn't mind evacuating, I'm sure my car would get damaged along the way somehow and I'd claim it as totaled and have them write me a check for a new one :) |
Live in Colorado on or East of Interstate 25. Guarantee those mountains will protect you, and it will be prettier than Florida.
So did your car get squished yet? Hope it doesn't washaway my poopjob! |
So this hurricane is gonna cause some major damage huh?
|
Most definately, at this point it's really just a matter of where it will cause the damage. Any shift in either direction could make a lot of difference.
|
From the looks of it, Mexico seems to be the only one to get fucked. If it shifts northwest then most of Texas is in for a shitty week/weekend.

One thing I learned from living in hurricane alley for most of my life is that they can rarely make a correct prediction about where a hurricane is going to go. It can change so easily and so quickly, so you really can't trust what they say.
If it DOES continue on it's projected path, though, the bulk of the hurricane will hit the Yucutan peninsula (I think that's what it's called, doubt it's how it's spelled,) which will severely weaken it, so the rest of mexico will probably just get the remnants. However, if it shifts to the north even a little bit, it could hit the gulf, turn into a cat 5, and own texas/louisiana/whatever. Hell, it could even curve back around and hit florida after that. I've seen hurricanes do loops, stop on top of places (I remember one that sat on top of North Carolina for like 2 days, didn't move at all,) all kinds of shit. Once thing I can say for sure, though, is it's going to do some pretty serious damage SOMEWHERE, because it's already a cat 4. |
Good thing about Minnesota is nothing water-based can really reach us. Only bad thing about the southern part is the large hail and tornadoes. I think during some of the large hurricanes in the gulf we got some of the winds and rain, but it was a waning storm.
|
Hurricanes can't get very far inland at all, land really fucks them up.
Though, I really doubt there's anywhere that you're COMPLETELY safe from natural disasters. I really like hurricanes, myself. I was in some pretty rough ones, but never had any property damaged too bad. It's a pretty crazy thing to go through, tons of rain and crazy winds. There are winds that you literally can't walk in because they're blowing so damn hard. It's pretty nuts. |
I was in North Carolina for Hurricane Hugo way back in like '90. That was interesting.
|
Yep, what K_A said. Even with that projection, a Storm of that size can turn out to be a fucking El Nino and spin around the opposite way and hit anything in the Gulf at this point, Shit I remember Ivan I believe it was and pretty much stopped and went back up the atlantic, they can change at any time when they want...
|
Hurricanes can't be the el ninos if you mean like the warming effect of the oceans x_x.
|
Haha, D3V is funny! It could possibly turn into Katrina!
