It's also worth mentioning that the "hurricane force winds" are weaker and weaker the further from the eye wall you go, so on the outermost portion of the "hurricane force winds" section is ~Category 1 wind force

(and the "hurricane force winds" section itself will be larger or smaller depending on the strength of the overall storm system)

Also probably worth mentioning the worst winds tend to be on the right side of a hurricane with respect to its motion, so if it initially looked like the storm was going to go along the east coast, the west coast of Florida would be doing alright

The fact that the storm diverted around the southern tip of Florida to the west is a pretty bad case for the west coast of Florida, on the other hand.
