[17:50] !King_Amazon!: There's a login server, a character server (which you connect to when you pick your character,) and the world server

[17:51] !King_Amazon!: there are actually separate servers for each continent

[17:51] !King_Amazon!: one for kalimdor, one for eastern kingdoms, and one for outland. Most likely one for northrend when it comes out

[17:51] !King_Amazon!: There's also a server for instances

[17:51] Kazilla: ive noticed that, at times everyone in my guild in outlands logs out at same time

[17:51] !King_Amazon!: This is why people on one continent can crash while everyone on another continent is fine

[17:52] !King_Amazon!: And if you pick your character and see the loading screen and then get "world server down," that means the server for whatever continent you are in is down

[17:55] !King_Amazon!: Also, this is why sometimes people can be on the server, but if you log out, you can't log in

[17:55] !King_Amazon!: If the login server is down, you can't login, thus you can't access the world server, even if it is down

[17:55] !King_Amazon!: or up

[17:55] !King_Amazon!: so sometimes, you'll see when people can't log in to a server, but people who were logged in before the login server went down are still on, and playing just fine, until they log off or get disconnected
